Hello Barts2

I have a Garmin NUVI 1390 as well in my van and it can receive the new TMC. Enabled it this evening and it showed me congestion on the Naas Road and in Dub city center. So the TMC info is there and working for Garmin.

Tried TMC on my Columbus this evening and not a dicky bird.

Also are you saying you have V7 maps now and M9 isn't on it....bummer. In fairness to CoPilot & Garmin they update their maps every 3-4 months. Considering that VW use Navtec the same mapping provider as Garmin / CoPilot there is no excuse for greatter update frequency / cheaper cost.

Anyway I'm also ****ed off that my phonebook is backwards in the columbus and I have to call out names backwards to voice dial them, so I'll rattle off an email now to my dealer about both issues.

Will you **** your dealer off about TMC :) might help push VW/Skoda into action.

Sounds obvious, but have you selected the TMC station on the unit?

Ray

I have an iPhone 3gs it connects every time with phonebook the right way but i only have limited options on the maxidot display ie recent calls , missed calls , phonebook texts dont show up on it or the Columbus

I put the latest maps on the unit the other day and drove out to the new waterfor/dublin road and thier not on it , it says in the secret menu the new maps and firmware are on it but i dont have the 7 digit postcode option

Sounds obvious, but have you selected the TMC station on the unit?

Only option for TMC channel is Automatic

Only option for TMC channel is Automatic

thats what i have it set to Gavin

I think there's an option in the Phone settings on the maxidot to list names by first name or surname

it should work with TMC station set to auto. The only thing I can think of for it not working is that your columbus may have an outdated map disk. The TMC data (stations/frequencies etc.) is stored in a folder on the disk which is copied over when the maps are installed. I guess the Garmin has been upgraded through a software update, hence why it works.

TMC does not just work, even though its now available, even then it may only work near heavily populated areas. For example in Spain it only works in/around Madrid and for the rest of Spain its Nada.

I can also confirm that the Waterford bypass is not on the latest map version.

See if you can select "Dynamic Route" from the route options. If it's greyed out, it's only the basic disk. :(
