27,432 miles - Discussion Continued

Featured Replies

I have restarted thread "27,432 miles" - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21220 - since the original thread has been closed before it was properly concluded

I called the garage at 10k and they booked me in and had the car serviced... job done  , the mechanic at skoda said that the car was on variable servicing (04 plate)... but set to KM's thats why it hadn't come on yet, so he set it to miles, and that the light would not come on until about 22-23K and that i should bring it back in then for the next service.

I specifically asked them the question whether it was on variable servicing or if i gad to bring it in at 20K. He said yes it is dont bring it back till the spanner comes up in the display and it reads oil! :)

So i didnt, its booked in for next monday and i explained the situation again with my new local dealer, and they said that this was correct. :)

Go figure, i only know what i've been told, who am i to argue with two different dealers! :D

Seriously, you need to get letters from both dealers stating the facts in order to pursue a claim for compensation. And I suggest you publish the names of the dealers on this list so that others can be aware of who is giving out this erroneous advice.

The Fabia vRS is NOT on variable servicing intervals. This is obvious in the handbook - which clearly refers to the build codes. There can be no other interpretation and I'm very surprised dealers are giving out the wrong information.

As it is your car now has both a voided warranty and an incomplete service history, and is devalued as a result. I suggest you ask for compensation for the loss in value - try

So neither dealers nor some Fabia owners are capable of reading the handbook - not a good scenario.

I think a letter to Skoda customer services would be of benefit so that no further bad advice is given out.

Interesting to note that the PD130 in the Fab is of a lesser spec than that in the Octy/Superb .... would hvae thoguht it cheaper for VW to make just one spec of engine?

Ross : Is the Octy/ Superb version different from the VW/ Audi one?

Is the engine actually different? AFAIK, the only difference is the lack of the oil quality sensor, and then the sensors for the brake pad wear and that...ie. in reality the engine *could* run on variable without ill effect, but without the sensors to tell the engine when it needs to be services, it's not a good idea to do it!

Rob.

I will ask the question again at my dealers on monday and ask them to explain why that in the handbook the code is for fixed servicing yet i have been advised otherwise.

P.S: I forget which part of the code state the servicing is fixed and what is the code that is for variable, i can't remember.

Ill let you all know on tuesday when i get in to work.

QC0 is fixed servicing and QC1 is variable.

All Fabia's are QC0.

Cheers

Lee

thanks

:D

My dealer was the same for a while stating variable when I bought the car, but I ignored their ignorance thanks to reading the handbook and threads on here...

You are all correct, the Fab VRS is not on variable, apparently the dealers got it confused for a while as it is a PD engine!

However they are not going to void the warrantee, they had no problem at all and the service was only 200 quid, 40 less than quoted. Job done...

However a dried up sqeaky gear box mount needs to be replaced and the standard head unit needs to be replaced as it keeps on turning itself off randomly!!

So every one is happy at the end of the day, nice one skoda. :D

A good result in the end. :)
