Mufflerectomy sounds unlike most

Featured Replies

Posting this topic on behalf of a friend, (brandon19) The car is a Ibiza (pd130) and I guess fabia 1 is the most appropriate place to post. He has NO cat No center box and No muffler, NOTHING. and it still doesnt go WOOOO (turbo spool down) after he lets off throttle. The pipe is all standard size all the way, Could the bore be the problem? Is it the flexy thing up near the turbo? His car isnt mapped either. Why doesn't it sound like TrevorB33's fabia?

So, youd say its all about the turbo?

Some people say it making that noise means bad things but I dunno how true that is.

You sure your not on about the 'flutter' like compression surge.

I'm on about this noise:

After my hybrid was fitted the noise stopped even though it's running much higher boost. I was told the noise could potentially mean the turbo is worn etc.

You mean like this noise? http://www.youtube.com/user/keithio450r#p/a/u/2/hX9KLwI6uJY

It all depends on how you drive the car if you will get the noise or not. I can drive it so I don't hear it, or I can do it on request so to speak. Certainly doubt there is anything wrong with the turbo, well I hope not as mine has only covered about 20k miles now.

my turbos only done 30k and year and half old, its a pd150 too certainly not bust lol, depends how you drive it, can make it do it all the time under 2000rpm the further up the revs you go the less you hear it, i.e full throttle changes and its not there at all really,
