Pimped my Golf mk4 Armrest!

Featured Replies

Bracket comes in 2 parts. I modified and used one part to act as a "steady" attached the armrest to the centre console from underneath and bolted it back on to the floor. You can't see anything looks and performs like factory fit and the armrest has been in for around 40,00 mile + with no problems.

    Wow, that's a superb idea, and nicely excecuted....

Im thinking of seperating the bracket from armrest, welding some bolts in and fasten the bracket down, then attach the armrest to centre console and either sikaflexing the 2 pieces together or cutting a circular hole in side to access the bolt and cover with a rubber grommet to be tidy.

I'm sure that it was the bracket piece with the hole in the side that I modified and accessed to make everything more rigid. I have pictures somewhere but I think they must have been on the drive of the old PC. I'll try and have a look over the next few days if I get chance. I seem to recall a hole already in the console and me digging out a nice big satin washer from somewhere so it all looked the part???

If you find the pics that would be great, mine deffo doesnt have a hole in the side. Its only a bit of modification anyway :-)

2 questions;

1) Did you just push fit the armrest into the holder in the fabia or do you screw it somewhere?

2) Does anyone know how wide the armrest is as I have bucket seats in the front so want to see if it will still fit?

Thanks :D

1) most people screw the armrest using the casing to the centre console, ive welded the support bracket in though

2) not sure sorry, can measure it tomorow

Here is how ive fastened my armrest in

That's just made me realise I haven't got the bottom metal piece of the arm rest! My mate snapped it removing it from his A3. Will have to look for another on eBay.

Sorry late in coming back long week in work, Pics gone wife used hard drive on the telly ...... . :rock:  Wasn't a hole in the console, big washer was used between bracket and armrest.

Tidy job on welding the bolts in. That is what I was thinking of doing to make the job "proper" Don't think that will ever happen now though as rest is rigid enough as is.

From the outside and into the armrest im guessing?

And if you wouldnt mind would be top!

That looks brilliant! I suspect its been said, but what is the armrest originally from, a mk4 golf? and is it easy to instal?
