Hi

Just joined after finding this excellent site. I am enjoying my 2002 Octavia 4X4 Turbo Estate and wonder what other owners experience is.

My car has 95K miles on the clock and is due a service. Just wondering what jobs I should attempt myself and what I should leave to a mechanic. I think my brake pads and fluid are due as well as the Haldex fluid. I have limited tools and knowledge but will have a go at the easy stuff. Any opinions welcome.

Hi, i'm a skoda technician and i recommend leaving all the work to us, a service can be easy work but for 100k depending on your engine (1.8 20v turbo petrol?) you may require a cambelt change etc. and even if you change your own oil the chances are that it'll just get changed again in the service. Although things that could help the technician is if you could inflate you tyre pressures to the correct setting. This can be found out on the inside of your petrol flap, you'll need to know your tyre size which can be found on the outer wall of them. Topping up the screenwash, lubricating your bonnet catch are also jobs that you can do yourself to keep your car in a good standing for the service. Best of luck, Ash.

Thanks Ash, I have a VW/Audi/SEAT/SKODA specialist nearby I'll give them a call.
