Cheers!

I replaced my front and rear discs pads from GSF in October 2010.

I don't have the invoice to hand but IIRC they were £145 all in inc vat, thats front and rear discs and pads.

They don't feel any worse than the ones that were on there when I bought it from Skoda.

I just asked for OEM quality.

You do get what you pay for and they did say the Pagid and branded ones will usually provide better performance, I just decided I couldn't justify it.

had to replace my disks ASAP last year (MOT), went for the cheapest/quickest option - ebay. got all round disks and pads for something stupid like 50-60 quid, fitted, were good...for a week. after that became noisy, braking was seriously weak (good only for driving at peak time in town center lol). few months later, noticed that they are wearing seriously fast and the disk itself looks like vinyl record (grooves .5mm depth maybe), was thinking about replacing them again. Then had an emergency braking (thanks to tw@ts on M1 who are not using their mirrors) and disks overheated. had enough of that, got PAGID ones for front (rear is still on cheap ones). Done only 2-3k miles on them, so early to judge, but so far - would say really happy. Little bit noisy sometimes, but performance is amazing.

My advice - get proper ones (mintex, pagid), fit them, then drive gently for a month and save £££ on fuel (brakes need to wear in anyway) and you will have proper brakes without any extra £££ wasted :) don't forget that your brakes is saving your bum and your vRS. See no explanation for having 312/256mm disks that cannot brake like they're designed to ;)

The problem with really cheap discs/pads is you often can't predict what you are going to get.

If you are lucky then the compromise is with longevity - they perform well but don't last as long as OE.

If you are unlucky then the compromise is with performance.

They could have poor longevity and poor performance or the worst case is when they are total c**p but last forever.

Unless you know the performance is good, then look elsewhere.
