Abandoned, rotten moggy - shame!

Featured Replies

Sorry for poor pics. Snapped on my phone as I was out walking with the old dear. Shame to see this car in such a state!

PS: It is a moggy isn't it?! I am a bit young to know 100% :p

Yes, it's a moggy. Morris minor from the British Motor Corperation. It might struggle to get an MOT :giggle:

There is a garage near me that would pass it :D

In this day and age I'm surprised it hasn't been pinched. Sad sight to see it in that level of disrepair tbh.

Project for you there Jason!

Bit of T cut

Poor moggy . Adamsons dealership have an old moggy rotting in the far corner of their yard. It is nowhere near as bad as this one. I keep hoping that a real enthusiast will spot it and make them an offer to rescue it.

Kathy

That boot flap might be salvagable though. :D

Well, its proper out in the Devon sticks, and by the looks of the small paddock/field it was in, it was fenced in basically.

There are hundreds, if not thousands still about, and tbh, they aren't very good.......

A totally mint one isn't worth a great deal when fully restored and roadworthy.

Get in touch with the Moggy Minor Owners Club Jason.

Tell you, they'd drool over that, and would probably restore it back to its former glory too tbh.

Loved the old Moggies I did. Never owned or even driven one though tbh

Yes, they are still very popular due to minimal cost, classic looks and plenty of parts availablity. Mine is in great condition and only cost £2995. No, they are not very good if you are looking for a modern car, a responsive car, or anything that doesn't need a fair amount of regular greasing etc...

It's a cheap Sunday fun car for pottering about in rural areas. Minimal (if any) depreciation, free road tax and £77 a year fully comp inusrance helps too.

Ideal classic for those without a big budget and just want something to play with sometimes, although the cheap running costs does see some used daily.

To me it's a feel good car for taking life slowly and enjoying the scenery when the weather is nice.

Wonder if they would accept this under the scrappage scheme that some local dealers still seem to be pushing :giggle:

I totally agree with you, but.....

Surely if you have the abilities, time and equipment to restore and use a modern classic there are far better cars out there to tinker with ?

I think half of the fun of restoring/using an old car is finding the bits and fettling it up. if I only had the space and time I coluld think of dozens of other cars that would rather have.

( I'm not biased, my dad had an old moggy, OCP 407, that broke down on our way to Bridlington for our annual holiday once, and although he fixed it, I resented the fact that it stole a day off me when I was 11......)

His various old Rovers. 90. 100 & 110 variants never missed a beat, nor did his numerous old VW's....

Ahh, the good old days.......

I bet you still have your old cart, you just need a reconditioned horse to go with it.

I've got one, she's asleep on the settee, although she needs a re-bore ( can I say that ?)

That was a joke btw.........and I won't mention big ends....

and I won't mention big ends....

.........or little ends for that matter

Oh behave haha. I don't think I'd be into restoring a classic car tbh as I can't be doing with spending time / money on constantly stopping it from degrading again. I do like the idea of building a kit car though, especially as kits can be had from as little as £2,500 afaik.
