Dpf Removal,which Way Is Best

Featured Replies

looking to remove the dpf off my octavia vrs 170 cr.should i buy a bypass pipe if available.take it off and gut it then reweld.is there any wires connected.is it a big job.?

Get a specialist to do it for you, it needs the DPF sensors mapping out, if you just bung on a pipe and it goes into regen there is a real risk of fire apparently.....Shark are well versed in the removal of the DPF 'innards' and mapping......I don't know if Ben has sourced a replacement pipe yet or if its still a case of gutting the original but I'm sure he'll be along shortly to offer advice :D

When I spoke to Ben on this subject he said that 'emptying' the DPF part was his preferred method.

This leaves the car looking as it should and avoids the need to buy an extra pipe.

+1 for the Shark approach, the order would be DPF delete pipe then remap, as has been said the sensors need mapping out in a similar way to stage 2 on a petrol when you add the sport cat.

thanks for the rapid replies.

i was going to remove it,split it,remove the insides and weld it back up.then get the fault codes mapped out.

does that make sense.

......BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!! where mapping is concerned.........cheap and ebay is not a good mix!!!!!

Dont buy it, some on here bought some ebay software and ended up needing to buy a new ECU and dashpod as the software was basically fake and instead of mapping the car destroyed the car dashpod and ecu.

anyway, if you have a MY10 car or newer you cannot flash it over the obd port because the security on the ecu prevents it. These ecus must be bench flashed which involves removing from car and dissasembly, I can recommend Shark as Ben did my superb DSG remap and its truely excellent.

its 08/58.non encryted ecu

just out of interest ive just bought an 08 car. It has had the work your talking about done already. it was done in june and has a new bypass pipe then a custom code map. I must say it is very impressive and is now 225bhp with 340 lbs of torque. This is nearly 100 more than standard and is really good. full certificate to prove it. all reciepts and cost 800 pounds along with a green cotton air filter. I think it is cheaper now though, as i say this work was already done but can honestly say its worth it. It was done by a company called JBS in chesterfield, they are audi skoda specialist.
