Oil Temp Not Showing

Featured Replies

Just a quick question really, as the title says noticed yesterday that my VRS oil temp is showing --- constantly on maxi-dot. it worked fine before it went in for a service about 2 weeks ago, the only thing is i checked and filled the car up with oil the day before yesterday, so before i make the round trip to the dealers is there any odd glitch that could mean that if i have over filled the oil slightly that the temp wont show up?

A lot of people have said that you don't get the oil temperature display if your car is on fixed servicing. Mine is and I have never got the display to show. Maybe when your car was serviced it has been put onto Fixed Servicing by the dealer which is why you can no long see it?

Yes that is what I have heard too. You should be able to tell if the dealer has changed your car to a fixed regime if you were to turn on the ignition but not start the car and then press and hold the trip reset button. On my maxidot equipped car the days and distance to the next service is shown, I presume the non maxidot cars are the same. If your car shows 9700 miles or thereabouts then it's most likely you are now on fixed intervals. If the time and distance is a lot more than that or is showing 3 dashes then you are still on variable.

Thanks for the reply yes it was put on fixed servicing when it was done, but thats a bit of a poop idea, surely its only a temp sensor and linked to the PLC and then it gives a reading. Ill pop in to the deelers as i used to think it useful to get the oil nice and warm before giving it some welly

I am on fixed service at it shows. Fixed service being: set amount of km or days to next service in maxidot, right?

My month old Vrs also appears to on fixed servicing, not that I asked for it. Mine does not show oil temp either. When it goes in to get seat fixed, will get it changed + cornering fogs set up too.

Don't think the oil temperature shows until after a period of driving. I noticed mine wasn't working then at the weekend on the motorway, after 15 mins or so, it was showing a reading.

Oil temp display is an option burried in side the menus on maxi dot. I forget where, but i know as i turned mine off. Perhaps that's been inadvertantly done on yours

With my VRS With Maxidot. Go into setup then MFD Data and there's a tick box to turn the Oil Temp on and Off. Hope this helps :|

Mine doesn't show the oil temp until it surpasses 50 degrees C and it does take a while too on a cold day as someone mentioned above.

Yes, it takes on my petrol good 15 min before it shows.
