 Great wee read.

Haven't seen one of these in ages.

I've seen a few Escort MKII RS2000s about though - another boyhood favourite.

I had one of those :D:D (showing my age now!!). Bloke I sold it to wrote it off after a couple of weeks :'(

The Mex was one of the original "hot hatches" (ok it wwasn't a hatch but you get the idea. A flying machine in its day. Queer to think that 86 BHP was classed as a quick motor :S

True, but the mini cooper only had about 55bhp

Would love one but hard to find a good one . Good ones changing hands for well over 10k will just have to stick to my Avengers!

Saw one on a the back of a transported last year. It looked mint, someone's toy I guess. Looked really smart and I'm not a Ford fan in general.

I always wanted a Chevette HS® or a Droop Snoot Firenza!

 Was always a bit of a vauxhall fan myself, the Mexico is one of only 2 fords I have owned (the other being a focus blob). I once rallied a Viva.

I even know where I got the bug from; seeing Gerry Marshall in Baby Bertha, and Jimmy McRae and Pentii Arricola (sp?) in the Chevettes; particularly that time Pentii took his whole delay out of Tony Pond in the TR7 half-way though a stage, and overtook at a hairpin!!

Engineered by the legendary Bill Blydenstein, driven by the equally legendary Gerry Marshall and Pentti Airikkala, the Dealer Team Vauxhall cars were a formidable force on both circuit and rally stage.

Last time I saw Airikkala in the flesh was in Cardrona Forest. Where, incidently, we held recover a Statos (driven by Hannu Mikkola I think)
