I am currently running a shark stage 1 remap which iam very happy with but i have been thinking about going down the stage 2 remap.

Cold air induction, front mount intercooler, fuel pump, injectors,(those 2 are your choice but would be better if you did as the fueling would be bang on)Take the secondary heat pump off and oil catch can is a must, and a turbo as it won't last long cause it will be at its max...Ko3 hybrid.I am doing mine now and it is very costly,The turbo alone will cost you £800 up wards and the I/C will cost you £600 for a good one...

What sort of money roughly would be required for all mods? 1500 quid?

AFAIK if you did all that you would also need a full exhaust system and a clutch, brake and suspension upgrade. Will end up costing more than the car.

I was thinking of it if the oem turbo failed but for the price you might as well buy an s4/m3/evo etc.

If you just get decat exhaust and air filter you could get the car mapped again and that will cost you over 1000 for a good setup im working on upgrading the suspension bushing, arb etc. before I think about that though.

Well i would like to go down that route but as you say mate the amount of money it would cost it dosn't make sense really had a look this morning at turbo and I/C prices and they aint cheap. For the money i would spend doing it i would be better buying a leon cupra r or audi s3 and a stage 1 map. I would much prefer upgradeing my vrs because they really are great cars comfy nice interior etc but i have the need for speed now after the remap and would like a bit more power :-)

all you need is an uprated intercooler, and full turbo back exhaust. Injectors and maf etc only need upgrading for hybrid.

I would suggest getting your suspension sorted first though.

I'm hoping to go R-tech stage 2 in the summer.

Yeah more power would be nice! they should have put the k04 turbo on the vrs. And 4 wheel drive. And Brembo brakes....

I can live with only having 200 and a bit bhp though not felt the need for more... except the other day when I was behind a db9 on the motorway :giggle:

I have done most of mine now Have all bushes done suspension frontmount brakes and so on I have about £2000 in mine all the work I have done my self I will pay shark to do the map when ready....If your handy do the work yourself you will save £££££££ It is time consuming ya Now I have a 2010 audi s4 now and to be honest I still like driving my vrs,the audi is nice and very quick but there is just something about the vrs I like people defo look more at vrs than Audi as it just looks like a normal a4!!!!

Like you say upgrades can add up even when your doing them yourself keeping my eye out for 2nd hand parts but the car was remapped when I got it and at the moment I just plan on fixing the handling now but you never know... as others have said this site will empty your wallet!

so it is possible with just full exhaust system and uprated inter cooler? What strain does that put on the turbo? That must be right on there limit, am i right in thinking a stage 2 map will somewhere be in the region of 230bhp? Yeah i fancy uprateing my suspension and having ago myself i have most of the tools required. What suspension components would i look at uprateing first? At the mo the car is on standard suspension.

it will put a strain but as long as it's a good remap it will be within safe limits. At the very least I would say you need a rear anti roll bar and probably uprated brake pads.

Think you should see 225 230 ish.

+1 for the above  i am running shark stage 2 with a huuuuuge Godspeed SMIC and piper downpipe and decat with jetex centre section and tailpipe. This along with a piper vis CAI and APR dv makes for one pretty quick KO3s package :giggle:

Have you had any issues mate since going to stage 2? How does the car drive compared to a stage 1 map? How much roughly did that all set you back? Does the exhaust system have to be decat?

What's that SMIC like then?

Guessing it's this one: http://www.godspeedproject.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=1475

How good is the fit? How did you modify the ducting, or did you leave it off?

Not seen anyone fit one before so would be good to see some pictures. An uprated SMIC is on my want list, as I'm not a fan of any of the FMIC's out there.

paulmovrs i got my stage 2 conversion done at performance torque in dec 09 and i have had no issues with it,not even the clutch,it cost me £1900 incl new maf sensor, forge 007p,forge fmic,3in milltek turbo back exhaust, pipercross panel filter, and full custom st2 map.bargain, totally different car.it now has 238 bhp and 278 lb/ft of torque.i'll give you a spin if you're in the oxford area.

yeah thats the beauty. the golf boys on vortex (i think) swear by them and when they posted up logs of the temp drop that was it for me got one £200 off fleabay. ive never really posted anything up on here about it, just fitted it and got on with it. i was too scared id get slated for buying a SMIC rather than going FMIC :giggle: its much deeper than the £500 forge version and less than half the price! plus build quality is good and a guy from the vw forum said that the core on it was exceptional with good flow readings. i will see if i can dig out the link from somewhere as they are pretty hard to come by now. no ducting on mine - it is as you see it in that link. its worth adding i did the wheel arch mod as well

Paul - no issues since going stage 2. i went straight from standard to stage 2 so couldn't really comment on the differences apart from comparing it to standard and that is a BIG difference  lol. never had it on the rolling road though  maybe one day will attend a rr day

I've been running a Shark Stage 2 map for over a year now,

When I first had the map the only engine mods I had were Aftermarket DV, CAI, decat downpipe.

Also SAI/N249/N112 removed and a catch can.

I fitted a FMIC about 6 months later and it definitely helped with top end performance.

The difference with the Shark stage 2 map over the Custom Code stage 1 was impressive!

I've done about 70,000km on the CC map and 12,000 on the Shark Stage 2 and I haven't blown my turbo yet :)

I like the idea of upgradeing it defenetly appeals to me but i just don't know if i can justify spending that amount of money on her, if i had a car i could use as a daily i would be more confident of carrying out the work myself plus i don't think there is any bri skoda members in my area that could give me a hand for some beer tokens. I am going to have think about this and maybe start to order suspension components first and get the ride sorted before i start upping the power output.

Has anyone on here had any previous experience with running a S3 or leon cupra r? That was my shortlist for my new car last year but i went with the vrs as i have always fancyed one,

Would have s3 before cupra, keep your vrs no point getting cupra cause there almost the same and the octy is far more practical...

Aye the vrs seems to do everything thats what i like the most just wish it had a bit more power lol

Fair enough, most get 210 tops from a stage 1 unless they are on optimistic rollers. It's funny when you see rolling road days and people who reckon they have 230 find out they actually don't :giggle:
