fabia 1.2 greenline mpg.

Featured Replies

i am about to order a fabia greenline 2, loved it on the test drive and its perfect for my needs. does anyone have one who can tell me what to expect economy wise? i will be doing mainly motorway miles, approx 25k annually. the book says 83mpg on the combined cycle but i've a feeling this may be a little optimistic. also, how long should i expect to wait for a factory order?

Hi robgilbert you will initially find it does not do the mileage you thought or hoped for, eventually you will be glad that you got the greeline especially with the mileage you do,plus a lot of motorway driving it will however be down to driving style, try not to break, keep your distance and done screw the arse of her, treat her gentle like a woman, take your time dont rush and stay the course it will give you more enjoyment and possibly let her do a lot of the work :giggle:,let the engine slow you down rather than on and off the brakes, you will be glad you got the greeline and not sure if you pay road tax she may be exempt as my crtdi is only £20 I think there is no tax on the greenline not sure though

Is it just me or did that sound a bit like a fast show sketch :giggle:

Dont forget to buy the car dinner first....

I averaged 67mpg on the first tank (display said 72mpg) and 70mpg on the second tank (display said about 74mpg).

But this is driving pretty sedately running it in. No prolonged full acceleration, sticking to 62mph (to see what mpg I can get) etc...

Now on 1300 miles. Hopefully it'll stay around 70mpg as it loosens up a bit over the first year/15k miles.

My driving is 80% open(ish) road and about 20% city with traffic.

Richard

Edit: And expect to wait about 5 or 6 months for it...

Hi Rob, Welcome to the site.

As the guys are saying, you won't be sorry you bought one. I do not have that model, but quite a few of the guys on here do have it and seem very pleased. The only thing I would mention is to make sure you read the handbook on running in your engine. These diesel are very tight indeed when you first get them. You will probably know all this stuff but it's worth a reminder. It doesn't say that much in the book and there isn't anything too much you have to do, but I would say drive it fairly normally without using too heavy a throttle application in the first few hundred miles. Don't labour the engine in high gears at low revs, but don't go too easy with it otherwise it won't run in. Avoid constant speed cruising without varying the throttle and load as this is not good for new engines, so don't for example concentrate on getting the best mpg to start with as that driving style is bad for the engine. However, once run in that's a different story. Other than that just enjoy your new car when you get it and please do make sure you keep posting to tell us how you are getting on with it. Good luck.

I have just completed an unusual journey for me, my engine has done 1350 miles of semi rural town driving (all 30mph with no DPF warning light) and I have completed a 260 mile round trip on mainly motorways and the return journey ended in rush hour. allowing for a 2.5% variance in the read out and fill to fill I averaged 66mpg with two 100kg + adults in the car. Now presuming the engine will take 5000+ miles to loosen and summer fuel I estimate an real world mpg of approx 77mpg

The funny thing is the return journey felt more up hill yet the car read 10 mpg more to the gal than going.

I'm averaging 55mpg in my GL2 on my normal 75 mile (one way) commute and that is under what I consider normal driving, consisting of 65% dual-carriageway/motorway cruising at high 70's mph and 30% country road at 40-70mph and 5% town work. The car has done nearly 4000 miles in 2 months.

The lowest mpg I have seen was a 210 mile blast to Cornwall at around 90mph where I saw 45mpg, the best I've had was around 67mpg when I was keeping speeds to around 60-65mph on the motorway. Once we are onto Summer diesel, I reckon 60mpg under 'normal' conditions and into the early 70's mpg if I am trying for fuel economy.

The car is excellent for a 1.2 engine, loads of torque and I don't feel like I'm driving a slow car.

Hope it helps. B)

Twas all done on my own private road down to Cornwall

I just hope I slowed enough for the cameras my satnav was picking up, there were a few.......no NIP yet.....:giggle:

(there were quite a few stretches at 100mph, not bad for a Furbie)

Congratulations. The GL2 estate in white does seem popular.

Maxidot is a good upgrade for the dash, shame it wasn't available when I got mine as it does look nicer.

Did you get a leather steering wheel?

I found the plastic one a bit cheap and cheerful so had it changed, and 25k miles a year means you'll be holding it a lot.

Nice choice, I went for white and could only have the estate which is a nice balance between size and space. I have not regretted my choice

I thought I had the Maxi Dot (stated so in brochure) and it appears it might be just the normal digital readout?

The Greenline seems to becoming more and more popular as fuel prices rise - due to Lybia Cameron will be pleased if fuel increases by 10p a litre.

i'll be using it as my business car, my logo is green so will look great on the white background. i've stuck with the standard steering wheel, i've a 1998 passat at the mo so it's bound to be better than that!!!! need the estate for my work kit, went for the most economical car that has the space i need, fabia estate has a better load area than some cars that are much bigger!
