Hi There,

I'm new to the forum and am very interested in getting a Fabia VRS once I have sold my Ford Fiesta ST (hopefully in the next month)

Having read through the forum and online I was worried about the leaking issues on the doors. Should I be worried about this or is it a problem thats easily fixed? Are there any other problems I should be wary of? I was looking at a SEAT Leon as an option but have a soft spot for the Fabia but want to be able to buy with confidence and with no regrets :D

Many thanks guys, I appreciate any advice you can give me...

Welcome to Briskoda.

There is nothing to worry about having a leaky rear door, it's a simple and easy fix.

Welcome, if the rear doors are leaky its a case of taking off the rear door cards and resealing the door carriers with silicone.

Only things to look out for are

full skoda service history (to make sure its had the right oil)

If its 5 years old or on 60k itll need the cambelt doing

And then the usual like take it for a test drive from cold and have a good look over it

Thanks Guys... Like I said, I really want one but everyone (non skoda owners) are putting me off by always telling me about quailty issues :(

So whats the Fabia like to drive then? lol am desperate to get my hands on one but my bloody ST just won't sell :(

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome, I bet all those non-skoda owners that are putting you off will all have/want an Audi. Skoda are essentially the same car give and take. They are great cars and you wont be disappointed. I've never looked back

Vauxhall ha! He must be gutted. Go and test drive one. I think the fabia is one of the better looking diesel hot hatches. A good little project if your going to be modifying it

I don't think you'll regret it, I px'd my last Superb to get the Mrs an xtrail and have regretted it ever since. So much so that I've now sold my 320d and am awaiting build and delivery of a new Superb.

Enjoy the site and good luck with your search.

I changed from a Fiat (fix it again tomorrow) Stilo Multiwagon to a Skoda Octavia hatch, best thing i ever did, the b#llsh#t about quality issues from non skoda drivers is completely unfounded. These are VAG cars and are as goos as if not better than the equivalent models in the VAG ranges, plus they are less expensive. They use essentially the same tried and tested components as all the other VAG manufacturers and quality and reliability are not an issue.
