Hello,

Does anyone know if VW sell this part or where I can get one that would fit please?

Cheers Matt

Are you doing the timing belt?

Yes that is the plan, as I have 2 weeks off work and am very handy with a spanner.

I am compiling a shopping list for changing the cambelt. So far I have planned the following

1) Cambelt kit

2) New idlers

3) New stretch bolts for engine mount

4) New stretch bolts for pulley

5) 19mm 12pt socket

6) Water pump

7) Replacement coolan

8) Air con / Auxilary belt

Am I missing anything out or forgotten anything? I was wondering whether it would be worth me fitting a new engine mount at the same time?

Looks good but why would you want a new engine mount?

Are you getting the parts from Audi? iirc they have 2yrs parts warranty so if your belt has been fitted correctly and it snaps they should fix it.

I just thought with the engine mount being off it might be worth replacing. But having a look at how easy it is to take off anyway. I will just replace as and when it needs doing.

Im getting the parts from my local TPS parts as they give me good discount plus they have the 2 year parts warranty as well

I will be replacing mine in 18 months time so would be good to know what sort of job it was to do,ive done plenty of timing belts over the years but never done a tfsi.

Did my cambelt and water pump today and it was pretty straight forward. The hardest part was taking the pully wheel bolts out as they are pretty stiff! It took just over 8 hours in total with lunch breaks etc, as I was not in a rush to get it done.

Though Im  as it only cost me £174 for the parts and saved myself about £200 by not getting a garage to do it!
