Alloy locking nuts

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was looking into locking nuts for my wheels and I got a set from my dealer. (they don't come standard)

I was expecting them to look like the aftermarket ones with a unique pattern etc but they have a splined interface on them.

These ones: part number CFA 071 004

Are these nuts any good or would I be better off with aftermarket ones?

Thanks

Eoin

There's a limited number of them, but the OEM nuts do have different keyway patterns on them, and they're way more robust than the aftermarket parts. The aftemarket ones do work, but to the extent that you sometimes can't change a wheel when you really need to!

Thanks for the replies,

Oh good, so it's not like there is 1 skoda alloy adapter that mr wheel thief has. They are better that I though so.

Ya I was thinking of getting a set of the McGard ones off ebay or something but I might just go with the Skoda ones now.

It just come with 1 adapter, do you know if you can order additional/replacements from the dealer?

I bought the McGard ones after I noticed one of my wheels was missing a locking nut shortly after getting the car.

Queue massive argument with stealer. They reckoned someone has stolen it :dull:

I reckoned it hadn't been fitted or fitted and not tightened.

Either way the McGard ones are much more secure.

I'm going to bore even myself by saying they are not nuts but bolts.

The covers dissapeared from two of mine the last time I was in the Skoda garage. Only one spare replacement left.

Ha, yes, you're right, they are bolts, it's just the way it came out.

Can you get the covers from the dealer? the security bolt is silver, the covers are black, and the cover does not fit on the security bolt. The result is 4 black hexagonal nuts, 1 silver round one, not great. Going to either spray the silver nut black or try and make the cover on new bolt
