Brighter Longer Range H7 Bulbs

Featured Replies

Installed the award winning Osram Nightbreaker Plus H7 bulbs . Was reading the Osram website and belatedly read that they would give an extra 35m illumination down the road.

Great. Only when actually using them, to check the alignment, that the bell pinged. If that was actually the case I'd be dazzling all and sundry on dip, which I am not. They work well up to the usual sharp cut-off.

The claim may be valid if used with main beams, but as most of my driving is just on dip- not so.

Do you notice a difference to standard Halogens on dipped?

I retro fitted Philips Extreme Power H7's to my new vrS non-halogen. They make a huge difference to the close up visibility, making things easier to see in dark conditions. Anything that makes visibility better is only a good thing.

I fitted Osram Nightbreakers a month or so ago, and they are a noticeable improvement over the standard bulbs on dipped beam.

I've fitted Osram Nightbreakers to a couple of cars and they do make a significant difference, even on dipped beams. You are right that they won't increase the cutoff distance on dipped beams but they will make it easier to see up to the cutoff. Much of the driving I do is on single carriageway rural roads so the extra main beam makes a big difference to me.

Was on some Phillips extra bright before so I'm not entirely sure there is any discernible improvement. Always felt the need to switch on the fogs as well on dark winding roads as ditch finders. The range of the cut off seems a bit close at maximum thumb wheel height. Might wind them up a bit more.

Main beams are some extra bright brand as well, but rarely get to use them.
