Rear brakes noise when applying brakes??

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have an 04 Furby VRS and I can hear the rear brakes but only when I apply them.... It is a loud noise that you can hear inside the car.. I have had it to Horners Bury who have said it is normal but I didn

Funny you should say that only I think the same thing ... My rear brakes seem to make a lot more noise now when I apply them. Sort of a rubbing noise all the time, sort of like when you have washed the car and leave it a day or so and it is wearing of the surface rust. Thought it was my imagination ... is this the same noise you get when braking? Seems very noiticable in the car ... I have done 8000 miles so if its the pads wearing out there must be something very wrong with them !!! Mine is an 04 VRS too

Do a search for the 'mooing' fix on this forum - there's a part number and the dealer will do it under warranty.

This is exactly what I get on my Octavia vRS. It only really appeared after the car was 3 months old with 3kmiles, they seem to 'scrape' whenever I applyed the brake, admittadly the performance was unchanged, just an un-nearving scrape sound, rather like worn out pads, more from the rear, but on my car it seems to come from all 4 discs :(.

Also when I am reversing off my drive say, and I apply the brakes, the rear brakes make a sound like a ships horn, I've had the car in two different dealers, each say they cannot find an issue.

Mine's always done this - I don't worry about it, seems to be a 'feature' on the furby! I've never had the moo-ing noise in reverse though..

Yeah, I get this a bit - despite having the mooing kit fitted. The suggestion I posted in the above linked thread gets rid of it though

G, I had this kit fitted a few weeks ago and the groaning has stop... PS the noise has gone from the back brakes as well ;)
