ie9

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried the latest version of ie9, is it any good? ......

if you have a modern machine, then yes its very good.

although i made the mistake of installing it on my netbook which doesnt have hardware accel and it runs like a dog..

Just installed it on my nVidia ION netbook and it runs very well! Seems better than IE8 and the cpu doesn't seem as stressed on flash heavy sites etc.

Does it compare to FF/Chrome/Opera or have M$ missed the mark again?

I think chrome and FF will have hardware acceleration in coming versions?

I think it probably does. Load times are very good (startting the browser) and pages load fast and they have streamlined the interface a bit.

I was playing with beta.. Got rid after 2week of use..

Chrome seems alot better. (use at work) IE8 at home also better in my eyes.. Again.. MS are behind in my eyes .. borrowing other providers ideas :)

The beta version is nothing like the current code. The public beta was full of bugs and very clunky, the new RC version should be much better and nothing like the beta which was just plain awfull.

I updated to IE9 at the weekend. Pretty painless as an upgrade from IE7.

A couple of bits have moved around, but i notice very little difference to be honest.

I have been running the beta versions and now RC1. Have to say that I have never been a fan of IE but this new version is very good indeed , it will be staying in use alongside Opera, Firepox was consigned to the depths of hell long ago.

I have found an incompatibility already. I can't use Tesco online grocery shopping properly. I can't book a delivery slot or change the quantities of anything. Works fine in Chrome though.

We had a similar issue last night, clicking "compatibility view" sorted it for us.

That said, we got all the way to the checkout, only to find a couple of vital boxes didn't display. That said, we managed it by hovering over the appropriate area, and watching the URLs, to find the correct thing to press.
