my new scout

Featured Replies

Well, I threatened to cancel the order when I was told it would be 6 months wait instead of the 3 I was originally quoted, but my dealer, Parkview Skoda of Reading, came good and delivered the car in 3 months and 1 week. I have a Scout 140 TDi in Anthracite. A few extras - the MDI (which worked immediately with my iPod) electric driver's seat and the full size spare wheel (including a jack).

The car got me through the winter snow with no problems. With 3k on the clock I am averaging 39mpg, but I'm doing a lot of short town journeys. Easily get 50 mpg running up to Yorkshire and down to the south coast.

I changed to the Skoda from an S Type Jag which I bought new and which spent 12 weeks off the road over 42 months of ownership. By 3k miles it had been recovered twice. Skoda has been completely painless.

Parkview almost matched the DrivetheDeal price and I was happy to pay a little bit more to have a local dealer.

A couple of small gripes (aren't there always some?): the speakers aren't all that good and struggle with some bass even at quite low volumes, and the anti-stall engine management means the car sometimes feels as if it is running away at low speed, so you have to stick to a lower gear. I'm getting used to it but will have the dealer look at it when I have a few minutes.

Regrets? I wish I had gone for the steering wheel radio controls.

Overall: great car, feels solid, comfortable, bags of torque, not a real off-roader but enough ground clearance for tracks and speed humps. I'd buy it again.

I think 'Shark' can retro-fit the multi-function steering wheels - look at the performance section on Briskoda.

I have been waiting for five months and still have no idea when to expect my Scout with very similar spec (and colour) - I am amazed you got it that quick! Do you think that your threat to cancel might have anything to do with that? I will try the same..
