Clima/parking aids/reverse lights not working

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I joined the club yesterday and bought an octavia L & K 2.0tdi hoping for some reliable motoring and ive run into problems already!!

Travelled about 150miles to look at the car, test drove,*checked everything worked* and put in an offer which the guy accepted.

Problem started about 90miles into the trip home, all of a sudden the heater/climate stopped working alltogether, rang the guy who said probably a fuse/resistor, take it to a garage and give me a call.

So, got home consulted the owners manual and had a look at fuse 4 (or 5) can't remember exactly, which ever it was it was blown so i replaced it and it blew straight away, i then discovered the parking sensors, reversing lights, washer jets and the dimmable interior mirror were also not working.

I then turned the key to find a warning message *oil sensor workshop* so all in all a pretty bad day!

Ive done a search on this forum and which showed a couple of similar posts but no replies on what it could be, and thoughts or advise to what it could be?

Thanks in advance, DaZ

They are all on the same fused circuit, you have a short if it's popping the fuse, probably worth starting at the oil level sensor end in the sump as the wiring to it goes past the driveshaft.

nah, brought from a trader but its a 320mile round trip to take it back, i plan to take it to a auto electrician in the next couple of days, but was just wondering if it was a known fault?

In case anyone has this problem, it turned out to be the G65 sensor, part of the air con system, located at the front of the engine slightly to the left.

£45 from my local vw stealers, not sure if thee is a valve situated below the sensor or you may need to drian the gas from the a/c? then regas once replaced.

At the moment ive just unpluged the sensor and everything is working except the a/c.
