after getting one of these when my contract is up in a few weeks. just not sure which? which is best?

I had the original Samsung Galaxy, and have just upgraded to the Desire, rather than the Galaxy S.

This was mainly due to Samsung completly dropping all support and any hope of updates to future Android versions, only a few months after they released their "flagship" product. It didn't even get an official update to 1.6, despite this being released around the same time the Galaxy came to the UK.

the galaxy dosent have a flash which is putting me off a little

The only bad point about the desire is the name IMO.

HTH

Just ordered the Galaxy S myself. Didn't realise it didn't have a flash! Rarely use the camera anyway especially at night.

It is the only Android phone that will work with RSAP too.

I've got the Desire (not HD) which I'm really happy with. Don't have any experience of the Galaxy S so I won't vote....

I have the original Desire and probably love it now more than the day I got it!

It really is a solid great all round phone.

The only thing I can see that people may have problems with using the desire is the internal storage space availble for apps and the limited ability to put them on the sd card. Not a problem if you're rooted and using a2sd etc though.

I have briefly tried a galaxy s a couple of times and I can honestly say I didn't like it. I found samsung's customisation clunky and not that nice. I also found it a bit stuttery and jerky (something which has been heavily reported and patches been released for but still not totally cured).

I say go for the desire or wait for the Desire S or get the HD if you have a pocket big enough for it!

Hi I have HTC Desire (Bravo), and I have huge issues with BT connections with my car and some probs with GPS time to time. There is no rSAP on Desire (Droid).

I had this dilemma earlier, decided on the Desire HD in the end. But even if not that choice I would have went for the Desire.

Ok break down:

Desire +

Flash, Robust, little known common hardware issues (if any), software issues always fixable, imo its the new age Nokia 3310

Desire -

Comparatively old phone (nearly 2 yrs), common.

SGS +

Screen - AMAZING clarity (AMOLED screen), hardware performance is better than Desire (MUCH better graphics for games, slightly better processor), lightweight.

SGS -

Its Samsung (personal opinion), it is not built to last (AMOLED 'screen burn' - 6 months), imo will last 2 yrs but wouldn't of thought much longer, some hardware issues - GPS, Wifi.

Both are android so I suppose software wise you cant go far wrong. I like tweaking with my phones so I looked quite in depth with it, in my eyes any software bugs can be sorted but hardware issues or robust issues will be big turn off's for me. Hence why I would suggest Desire. HTH.

Edit: To add, Im guessing you don't tweak your phone but if you do, the community for modding the desire is much bigger therefore you will get much better community support (aka software support) if anything does go wrong or if you want a software upgrade. My Desire HD (Which has effectively the same chip as Desire) can be clocked to a stable 1.8 Ghz when the original speed is 998 Mhz.

I've just ordered the Desire from Vodafone. Was tempted by the Desire HD, but felt a bit too big and bulky for my liking, and the Desire was 5 quid a month cheaper for same minutes etc!
