Featured Replies

Will be getting an Octavia 2.0 Tdi Pd Ambiante at the begining of March but have been told by my Dealer that the tow bar is not ready yet due to the wireing being intelligent! has anyone got any more info as i hope to be going away for Easter (end March)

Thanks Mike

This seems to be a bit of a "grey" area, in that appears to be some confusion on tow bars and the OctyII...sorry I,m not any real help.

There has been previous questions in the same vane

All looks a bit murky at the mo.

ps..which one is going?

hi there

It may be worth doing a forum search for tow bar, towbar - I thnk there has been a few similar posts.

Heres what I know;

I looked into this a while ago and found witter towbars (http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/).

They make towbars with removable towballs for the Octy II. Called their local Stockist in Aberdeen who quoted less than

Don't expect anything qiock from Skoda, for some reason they are struggling with the electrics for the UK spec Twin-electrics.

This is the topic I was on about around Christmas.

My Octavia is Spanish spec and the dealer said his local friendly tow bar fitter simply refused to fit any tow bar to the new Octavia " because it will blow up the electrics and the computer ".

So I still have no tow bar and no sign of any cure to the problem that I was told Skoda know all about but" are doing nothing".

Damn annoying I reckon and slightly pathetic.

Mate of mine had this at work.

Golf V with "complex electrics".

His local fitter fitted the witter towbar, but admitted defeat with the electrics.

I recommended the place that did my Touran towbar - they sorted the electrics for him - all working now.

Not sure if I'm allowed to advertise on here, but they're Braithwaites just outside Preston.

Fitting (and electics !) guaranteed for 12 months.

I had a towbar fitted as a factory option and yes the wiring is linked to the cars computer, I would recommend you get the genuine wiring loom, the towbar is excellent and when fitted it automatically switches off the rear parking sensor, something that drove me mad with my last car a Seat Alhambra TDi

Towbar fits in the spare wheel well also.

You can order a towbar from the factory, it's not in the brochure but is available on the vehicle ordering system. It is fully detachable with a swan neck and the electrics hinge away under the bumper. When the actually bar is not fitted you really can't tell that the car has a toebar fitted. Cost is around about £400, I think.

PM me if you want more information.

Edit: oops just realised how old this post is!!!!!!!!!!

Had a Witter with twin sockets fitted at my local towbar centre (Chester towbars).

 Had to look to see who started this thread :D

Had a Witter towbar fitted with all the interfaces for the wireing.

My MY06 came with the factory fitted tow bar and single 13pin electrics - the dealer then added 2 or 3 additional wires to complete the job. My understanding is that these are for the 2x 12v feeds for caravan fridges etc. It was supplied with both 13pin to 2x 7pin (12S & 12N) and 13pin to single 7pin adaptors.

Any idea who makes the swan neck/ball assembly? I'd like to get another one...

Had bosal detachable towbar fitted with 13 pin electrics nearly two years ago. No problem with fitting electrics - all functions as it should.

Used Redcap garage in Blackburn, Braithwaites near Preston also call on the experts at Redcap for info
