Washer Fluid Light --On all the time

Featured Replies

I just activated the low washer fluid warning via vcds on my fl octavia....however even after toping it up with fluid the light doesn't just go off....

DOnt have maxi-dot nor do I have xenons or headlamp washers....

First I thought that economy class car doesn't have the sensor or its maybe the lack of the above features....

but activated on a friends elegance (without maxi, xenons or lamp washers ) and works completely fine on his !!

Can anyone post a picture of the sensor and where it is located so that i can have a check !

Thanks alot. !

You wont have the sensor that is why the light is on i would imagine.

AFAIK you won't have the low level light/sensor unless you have the headlight washers because you then have a bigger washer bottle. The sensor will be mounted on the washer bottle, monitoring the level in the bottle, which is located in the front wing just behind the bumper. To double check if you have it then I think it would be a bumper off job I'm afraid, unless someone else knows better.

Are you sure it is not another level indicator? Coolant, brake fluid, engine oil etc.

Off to double check my manual. :smirk:

You can get to it simply by removing the plastic liner that fits in the wheelarch.

If you've got front fog lamps, you can also get limited access from there

A little tip:

Foglight bulbs can be changed (on the vrs anyway) in about 5 minutes by pulling out the outer sections of the lower grille and getting at the back of them from there. ;)

Do you have a picture of the sensor ?

Don't require the headlamp washer ------ as I said tried it on my friends elegance and works perfectly ( without headlamp washers)

I know where the washer bottle is jus need a pic of where the sensor is ............. I can get to the washer bottle by removing the headlight ..... Very accessible from there on..... Just don't know wer the sensor is at the back front or at the bottom?

Id imagine the sensor would be at the bottom of the reservoir :)

Any idea he it looks?

So I'll know what I'm looking for !

Thanks

Well it'll probably have a wire coming from it.... :p

In all seriousness, I can't think of any other sensors that are likely to be on the washer bottle?

No wire going to washer reservoir=no sensor? :|

Access to the bottle is very restricted .... Even after removing the headlight ....

If I knew specifically what I was looking for .... Be a hell lot easier ....

Anyways I'll go and giv it a look right now ....

Thanks let u know in a bit

i think this is the sensor had to remove the fog light to get to this ..........

when i pulled it out completely washer fluid started pouring out ......so now i think i have the sensor ..then why doesnt the light go off ??????

Is that not the pump??

You've coded your car for something that it isn't equipped to do.

Which is why the light's come on all the time, as the car is unable to report the washer reservoir status. Because it doesn't know what it is. Because you don't have the sensor installed.

What you've pulled out is the connector for the pump for the washer fluid.

so you are saying that an elegance without headlamp washers and xenons has a sensor whereas my ambient doens't ???

What year is your friend's Elegance? Front headlight washers are standard on the current Octavia Elegance (according to the brochure). When my relatives were looking at Octavia's every Elegance they looked at (2004-6 models) had them ...

Not in India ....!! It's different here

Compared to the UK elegance - here we don't even have xenons or maxidot as standard and not even as an option....

Not only that the mk2 and 1Z models are called Laura out here not Octavia ....also we never had the vrs for the mk2 and 1Z not uptil now atleast !

My 2010 VRS ran the washers dry for the first time without any warning light.

I'm assuming that's the way it should be?

It was annoying at the time as I was in a hurry and had to stop and buy some fluid.

vRS models without xenons, in the UK at least, don't have the washer warning light, or associated sensor fitted.

Cmon guys a picture is all m askin for ! :(

Cmon guys a picture is all m askin for ! :(

That would require someone to take their car to bits so unless someone just happens to be working in the same part of the car I doubt it will happen. In my case even if I took my car to bits to get at the washer reservoir I wouldn't know what the sensor looks like to take the photo for you - I can't be the only one in that position.

Why not go to the dealers and ask to look at their parts list - the diagrams that have parts of the car blown up to show the individual bits will show you what it looks like and where it fits.

You're also asking for pictures of parts fitted UK domestic market vehicles, when you don't own one...

Go and talk to the dealer if you must. Or you could just believe several on here who are telling you don't have the sensor fitted. Because you've applied the coding for the sensor warning, and it doesn't work!
