VRS SE grill colour options? help me decide!

Featured Replies

i want to de-chrome my grill basically, and was wondering if anyone had any links to pics of what they have done with theirs? i was thinking either body colour ie blue or a satin black to go with the other black trims on the car and my new black TT rims :)

Heres my newly carbon fibre'd vinyl one...Can easily provide the contact details for the guy who did it...(i know its not an SE but thought it would be good to see)

can anyone photoshop one for me?

Just use your imagination... It's not difficult to imagine the grill surround the same colour as the rest of the car. It looks OEM and subtle. :)

Here you go Tom,

:'(

I wanted to have my grill painted black/body colour when it was in the bodyshop, but they wouldn't go near it. I tried in vain to remove the chrome - brake fluid, bleach, paint thinners etc. on a gash bit of grille I had spare and I couldn't shift the chrome. I have a new badge kicking around at home waiting for the change, but I'm finding it difficult to get shot of the chrome....... Carbon surround - erm, if it was real carbon then great, but the fake carbon has been 'round so long, even if you had a real carbon grille, everyone would think it's fake :( I don't see the point in fake carbon TBH. I'd suggest body colour on an SE.

What bodyshop wouldn't touch the chrome?! That's really odd! You don't need to get rid of the chrome just scotch it. I did mine will 2000grit scotch brite. It just needs to be scratched up so the primer can stick to it. I used 2k solvent primer which is a filler primer.

This is 200% right by the way, I am a painter by trade :)

as above. its only plastic coated, not metal. Just give it a good sand for a 'key', plastic primer, paint, laquer= job done.

Ive done mine blue today so ill get some pics up in a mo. Its not fitted, waiting for it do dry, but ill be fitting it tomorrow.
