Order placed - Yay! Now the wait - Boo!

Featured Replies

Well I've finally decided to take advantage of the VAT free offer and get myself a new car.

We were looking at replacing my 56 plate Octy vRS towards the end of the year, but with the current promotion we've decided to bring things forward.

So a little earlier I paid the deposit and officially ordered:

Octavia vRS Petrol Hatchback

Anthracite Grey Metallic

Rear Parking Sensors

Auto Dim Mirror

Xenon Headlights

Leather Upholstery

Heated Front Seats

Maxi Dot Trip Computer

Space Saver Spare Wheel

I got a little extra discount over the "VAT Free" offer.

On top I managed to negotiate £6500 as a trade-in on my vehicle.

So now the wait, 3-4 months so I'm told - pictures will follow.....eventually :)

Congrats !

Congrats !!

Congratulations, I hate waiting!!!

It might be less than 3 to 4 months seeing as it's a petrol.

Nice spec.

Congrats Stoofa  Can't wait for mine, build week 11 hopefully.

Forgot what it was like to drive.

Very similar spec to mine.

Congrats

You might be lucky and get a faster build. Mine is about 6-7 weeks earlier than anticipated (petrol). Total wait will have been 8-9 weeks depending what day it arrives at the dealer next week.

You must be copping off with the MDs secretary or something :giggle: result

Petrols are taking 7 weeks from order to delivery, I am having the same argument with my dealer, its here and that I don't want it until 1st March !

The TSI VRS is a fantastic bit of kit and the current prices and deal a steal.

The only significant negative I can think if when ours arrived, and we just booking in for first service at 19.5K after 11 months, is the OE tyres. The TSI VRS came with Dunlop sport Maxx GT which were not too good and lasted 13K, my 1.8 TSI L&K came with even worse Bridgestone RE050s so you may need to spend £500-600 to enjoy the car properly replace the naff OE tyres. I think some lucky people got Contis, have not heard anybody getting Mich PS3s but it is a bummer getting a fab car only to have naff rubber.

I got contis on ours (registered in Jan of last year), good tyres but the fronts are getting close to needing changing after 10,000 miles

Haven't been coming with Dunlop's for a year now....Conti's all the way looking at what other people have picked up including me!!

Aye right :giggle: my current one was delivered last april it was the poor dunlops. They're not as bad as some folks make out but they're certainly not great and the wear is terrible. Whoever buys my current car will only get another 2k tops out of these  and to be honest they'd be as well binning them and getting something better straight away.

Thats very strange then as every 'here is my new car' thread i have seen since before i got mine were all Conti's!!

When i was ordering back in Feb last year, there was a mixture coming through at that point. I asked about specifying the tyres, but there were no choices. Most of the other new car threads either side of my delivery had conti's which annoyed me no end :-)

I predict my new one's coming with Dunlops. I can feel it in my water :giggle:

Our TSI VRS arrived 16th March and was a factory order as we added Curtain airbags, rear parking sensors and the spare wheel so it was 11 months ago but left the factory about 12 months ago I suppose but bummer about the Dunlops instead of Contis though there are Mich PS3s on their now thank God and French tyre technology.

Why do they give more grip and faster in reverse ?

Now now, WW2 was a very long time ago.

If it was not for RJ Mitchell we might be speaking German now.

Use to buy British ie Avons (now owned by Cooper Tires US) but not sure their tyres are available in AA traction rating.

Praise be to Allah, allah be praised! It came with Continental CC2s. Noone should have to put up with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT's, they should be illegal under the geneva convention!

Ok exaggerating a bit there but 13k out of 4 tyres (rotated every 2.5k to avoid the saw toothing that can plague the Dunlops) is just ridiculous and the tyre roar off them is way over the top and just unacceptable IMO. Dry grip was ok, but middle of the road for a performance tyre. Wet grip was not a good match for a 200bhp car. Snow was a joke (got stuck on my level driveway). Aquaplaning wasn't very good. High speed stability was quite good. End of dunlop mini review :giggle:
