ABS/Brake Warning Lights Flashing

Featured Replies

Just drove home in the snow and close to my drive the ABS/Brake Warning ( red circle with a i in the middle ) lights were flashing, was going through some deep snow at the time. Turned off the ignition and turned it on again and the lights were off, not moved it since. Do you just think it was snow getting into the brakes?.

May just have been some crud on one of the ABS wheel speed sensors. However, cycling ignition will always turn the warning off (unless ABS unit fails self check). You need to drive the car above 10 MPH for about 10 minutes to see if the fault comes back.

Thanks will drive it tomorrow when the snow goes.

I had this problem on the other half's 54 plate Fabia after the f/o/s sensor was changed due to ABS/TC warning lights. When I drove the car home it was horrible, the brakes grabbed and ABS cut in and the speedo didn't work for 5 miles.

Once the speedo started working the car smoothed out and DRIVES and BRAKES perfectly - but the TC/ABS lights are still on.

Dealer believed a faulty sensor on the hub is the problem ( new hub £70+vat+labour) but wouldn't make any guarantees.

I'm still driving the car, it runs perfectly ... apart from those warning lights.

Any ideas ?

Needs a code scan/clear and go from there. No Speedo for 5 miles suggests a comms issue between controllers.

Been out for a drive this morning and the car is fine no lights came on .

Good stuff, must have just been some crud stuck to a sensor.

Sorry to ressurect this thread again.

In addition to my PD100 ABS/TC warning lights staying on, and the initial problems with speedo; I noticed this morning that my average MPG figures are in the 20's !!!!!! :o

I'm hoping this relates to the communications problem mentioned earlier ... unless anyone knows otherwise?

Had this problem all through the december snow!!

It's all down to cold battery, therefore ecu missing signals etc.

Battery may be on it's way out, but probably will be fine when weather where you are warms up a little.

Ok, had enough of this ... the car is brilliant to drive with all the nanny stuff turned off, but the warning lights are annoying.

It's booked into Saville's in Mustow Green for a session on the computer, £45 just to read the codes :'(

There's OBD 2, code readers on ebay for 22.00 quid & it's yours for life!

I've been checking out the OBD2 VAG readers and they look pretty decent, BUT will this give me the error and will one of these readers allow me to sort out the problem?

Or will it just point the way to the problem?

Excuse the stupid question - I know eff-all about diagnostics

hi, has anyone found a remedy to this problem? I have the same problem now. interestingly the weather is cold, so I suppose it could be the cold battery thing.
