lowered felly tyre wear?

Featured Replies

I lowered my truck last August (ebay springs) and put some part worn Marangoni tyres 185/65 15s on (about 5mm tread). Recently I swapped these tyres for my other set of wheels/tyres. When looking at the marangoni tyres I noticed the fronts had worn (on one side of the tyre more than the other) almost down to the minimum tread tab thingys. I had done about 3-4k miles over 3-4months. Is this a result of my lowering the truck or somthing else? Are Marangoni tyres a bunch of pants? I am currently running on 195/50 15s and will be keeping an eye on wear, but these, so far seem to be wearing at a much more acceptable rate. Any thoughts as to why this seems to be the case?

did you get the tracking adjusted after lowering the wagon?

Tom is right, Deffo get the tracking done

Aside from tracking, which won't help, if you lower a car and retain the standard wishbones and top mount positions, you'll intorduce more negative camber and more castor. One of the results of increasing negative camber is increased inside edge tyre wear.

The rest of the detail could be down to tread hardness, ambiant temperature and sidewall stiffness (I know next to nothing about Marangonis
