Thanks for your help everyone,

Recently I put here that I was likely to buy an 05 plate Skoda Octavia, and thanks to your advice purchased it today.

However, it comes with relatively boring tape/radio as standard, is it very easy to remove? And just put another cd player in from say Halfords?

Not had a long chance to look at that so was just looking for some advice before I have a proper look tomorrow.

Once again, if I am int he wrong section MODS, please move.

which model did you get? Changing head units is easy mate.

Might just want to watch out for the k-line issues, and remember some headunits have their perm and ignition sense +ve feeds reversed.

Most (if not all) aftermarket HUs will not control the CD changer in the boot.

Just had a look a few minutes a go, looks like there is 2 'slits' about a butter knifes width? Do I just put something in them and pop the cd player out?

Then if I was to get a cd player say from halfords? Cd player

is it just pretty much plugging the new one in?

Thanks again?

You'll probably need to buy an aerial booster if you want to get decent MW reception & possibly a harness adaptor to overcome any permanent 12 volt issues. Halfrauds should be able to advise you.

You can remove the head unit by using two cut down junior hack saw blades in the slots then pull the unit out.
