Baker21, I hear very good things about you but I live up Lancaster way and work in Preston, do you travel this way?

Glad to hear they are good things........

More than happy to travel within reason but I personally am not a huge fan of Diamondbrite and similar products so wouldn't be able to apply this..........

Dave is a good chap from what I see on DW and I think for the price he quoted you it seems like a good offer.......

but there is no paint correction in that list

at least our very own baker21 does a full paint correction and as i have had 2 cars done by him his work really is amazing and not only is he a top bloke but his work ethic is amazing

i would not use anyone else especially when he teams up with chris focus whoop whoop ;-)

p.s and his other helper ;-)

you make a fine point in that there is no paint correction and the swirls I would like reducing/removing but I am not sure if just a hand buff will do it?

If you do not use the life polish product Baker21, what would be your recommendation for swirl removal and maintenance of clean car or is it as per the guides on the forum, has there been a discussion over life products vs just a good detail polish?

I will be keeping the car for hopefully quite a few motorway miles, and my current car for sale got stone chipped so badly the paint is bubbling on the leading edge of the bonnet, is there a way to protect against that?

Also Skinnyman, how much do the products cost to keep the diamondshine finish say per annum?

The Dimondbrite stuff can be had from their website. Depending on how often you wash the car, this pack will easily last a year, in my case two.

I'm not an advocate of the system at all. I had it done five years ago when I wasn't as aware of the detailing side of things. I'm not sure I'd have it done again and now know that a good paint correction and waxing are as good as, if not more effective. It didn't harm the car, but without having two identical cars, washed at the same time but one with and one without the Dimondbrite I'll never know if it made any difference.

It depends on how picky you are about keeping the car clean. I go through phases of caring and then resigning myself to the fact it's the family bus and inevitably has to take some abuse. I think the Dimondbrite system is the lazy person's way to keeping the car looking okay - from 10 paces at least. There's no way the paint on my car would stand up to any scrutiny from a detailing fanatic, but as a family car it looks alright.

Cheers Clive and it's appreciated, I would like to state that I am in no way prompting Clive to comment like this............... :p

I don't want to lead anyone away from anything they are already doing or looking to do, I am only on here offering advice and can only provide this on experience I have had and others within the similar 'trade' who have had experience with products, etc.

Dave is a good guy and will do you a good job, if you want correction work then he can offer it and will also do a great job.

You will never be able to do anything more than mask swirls and some scratches if your doing it by hand, it's only with a machine that you will be able to correct the paintwork and restore clarity.

Diamondbrite and other such brands have their place in the market but these are there primarily to protect the paintwork and make it easier for you to maintain, I don't believe they offer any masking or correcting ability, therefore whatever finish you apply it over, won't change, only in terms of protection. There are many different products and brands on the market that will do the smae job, maybe cheaper and potentially better.......

It's fairly well documented over on DW and the main thing to consider is really what you want out of the product, whether it's durability or final look.

Just to be clear from my side I am not putting down what you have on the paintwork and your pictures clearly show a great shine after all these years, I haven't used this product myself, only know what other pro's feed back in 'non public' forums.......

Thank you both for great information.

I will not be detailing my car as it will be the family bus and will get washed as and when I can, I do have a jet wash with a foam lance I can use so the snow foam idea appeals for a quick wash down, spot wash with microfibre and bucket and on occasion a hand dry. I have managed to wax my previous car once a year by hand and that is probably the frequency I will be able to maintain.

As the car is black is does show dirt very quickly and I believe that the paint is softer than other colours so I wanted a way to protect against the wear and tear of a motorway.

I am after durability and would really welcome your recommendations or pointers to areas on DW for me to educate myself  especially if it helps me source different products and brands on the market that will do the same job, maybe cheaper and potentially better

would a product such as C1 Crystal Lacquer be a more durable finish for lazy me and stone chips?

Yes without a doubt, it maybe better for you to pay Gtechniq a visit or phone them they also apply the C1 for you.

Sorry for the delayed response, forgot about this one.............. :|

There are plenty of products out there to do similar jobs at varying prices, they all perform to their maximum when there is a good base layer well prepped below.

C1 is a great product but can be tricky to be applied and I believe can only be sourced if your a Pro or Trader........... :(
