Turbo Charger Sound

Featured Replies

Good afternoon.

Every single day for the last seven months, since i bought the car, and every time i accelerate i hear my turbo charger. I can describe the sound like ffffsssssssss (or like cruising over wet tarmac). This sound occurs from about 1500 rpm and after and as i step on the gas pedal. After few seconds the sound disappears.

It happens only when the car is moving, never when idling.

Test example :

3rd gear on, about 1500 revs. Then step on accelerator pedal as soon as the revs reaches 1700 the ffffsssssss appears. Then goes off.

5th gear, about 2000+ revs, then accelerating. The ffffssssss comes again and after while goes off.

I do never hear that sound while cruising, only while accelerating. From any speed (40, 70, 100, 130 km/h) and with any gear on from 2nd to 5th.

Do you hear something? or my car is faulty since the day was built?

No warning lights on dash panel and 11.850 km on clock.

Any comments are precious. Thank you in advance and sorry for my bad English.

I will try this at lunch time, it could just be normal turbo noise.

My old VRS made a similar noise when a pipe to the turbo had a crack in, it sounded like the fans in the car where on full, If it has been doing this for 11,850 miles It probably isn't a problem?

------edit-----

just relised, I posted in the wrong forum, how did I get in here!

Sorry, maybe someone with the same can give a proper answer!
