Project clean that carpet (+ another agenda ;-) )

Featured Replies

OK - Little piccie session of what I achieved today. Still need to rebuild a lot of the car, but all coming together. The floor carpet has been quite mucky for some time, so I decided to gut out the carpet, and give it a good clean. One bonus of this meant I could rip out the insulation and get rid. :D

This is what its like with no seats in at all, and the carpet removed

The carpet sat on the lawn awaiting further treatment.

Soon the insulation layers at the front and back were removed - never to be refitted. ;)

So, one bare floor. Thinking what to do next

So I decided to clean the rear footwell areas as they had got mucky somehow... Despite being under insulation and carpet. Clean one

and dirty for comparison, before I started cleaning

Carpet and various interior out for cleaning and/or washing before being refitted

Nice clean base for the (now only) carpet layer to go back in.

Clean carpet puts up a bit of a fight trying to get back in through a back door....

But finally the interior began to look a bit more normal. And yes if you note on the right side, I managed to get the trim OVER THE SEATBELT. When I found out, I can't tell you how much I cursed! A true moment of muppetry. :giggle::giggle::giggle:

Still got the passenger seat to bolt in and some trim to refit, and then to wash the boot floor, but generally happy with 4 hours of tough work. I would have finished it 100% but I had roast lamb at my Dad's calling os had to get the car driveable again.... :D

its suprising how much the insulation weighs aint it Jase,

I picked it up after getting rid and estimated 6 to 7 kilos. Rather have that out the car, and I didn't notice any extra noise (was noisy enough before so can't really tell if there's any more.....)
