Bit of plastic stuck on right hand side front window?

Featured Replies

Does anyone who owns a Vrs have a bit of plastic atached to the pillar in front of the steering wheel on the glass? I never noticed it before but I don't know what it's there for! I first thought maybe the dealer used it to hold up the price when he was selling it, now i'm not sure what it's for? Will it be safe for me to remove it or is it there for a reason? Anyone got any idea? sorry I don't have a picture.

Is it easy to remove?

No it's not easy to remove. I tried but it's very tight in place. I didn't want to pull on it too hard incase my window would pop out! Is it really a note clip like so many posts have said?

Is it easy to remove?

Just one wee black screw, peel off the a pillar trim and you'll see it. I can't remember what head's on it, torx?

No, its not a note clip, hardly the ideal position to keep your shopping list :giggle:

As others have mentioned it's to hold a pay and display ticket / parking permit.

It can be removed, you need to first pop off the plastic trim that borders the windscreen and runs from the dashboard up to the roof lining.

Behind this you will see two screws holding it on.

Not sure why you'd want to remove it though, I've found it to be pretty useful

Be careful when you're wiping the window. Ripped my finger open on it a couple of years back.

Very easy to remove. Just pull the pillar trim off (don't worry you will need to pull fairly hard but will come away cleanly!) and then unscrew...or if you don't want to remove it you will need to do this process when you break it cleaning the window :giggle:

If you have a-pillar airbags, please dont pull hard. There is a screw under the airbag label in the a-pillar.

I found it fairly easy to remove (didnt even want to remove it, because I always put my parking tickets under it), cleaned the windshield from the inside and was a bit too fast in the corner.

Hit the holder and it flew away.....

Taking of the a-pillar trim is the cleaner way though... :giggle:

Good point about airbags! Never thought about that. On our old Astra, the trim just pulled off the same as with out though...strange they screw it on with the airbag...

It should hold to the a-pillar and not explode and zoom through the car. (gives the a-pillar trim enough hold to break and let the airbag through). :giggle:

Saved by the airbag, but killed by the trim....

Looks like Vauxhall overlooked this potential safety issue then

Its for speeding tickets . . .

Why on earth would anyone want to remove this extremely useful piece of plastic ???? Unless you are lucky enough to enjoy free parking everywhere you go it is a brilliant little thingy which saves you from having sticky marks on your windscreen or a parking fine when the ticket falls off the dashboard, or wherever, and you get caught for not displaying it. Just count yourself lucky it wasn't an extra cost optional extra....

so that's what its for......

All I know is it was really in the way when trying to site my plunger mount phone holder..... (kensington one).

Cheers - Jonathan

Smashing - my window clip is getting removed then when I get a spare couple of minutes!

Dont forget the screw hidden behind the airbag badge (if your VRS has a-pillar airbags).

Well that was a quick & easy mod! A-pillar cover removed in about 5 seconds, 1 hex screw removed and the wee clear bracket is gone!

My car doesn't have airbags in the pillar so I guess that made it easier.

Yep a 1 minute advantage  (remove label and 1 extra hex screw) :giggle:

I was in there today so i took a photo of the item in question :giggle: Torx T20 head on the screw.

I think it would be more useful on the passenger side, but probably wasn't considered by Skoda because they build a lot more left hand drives.
