Cheap Skodas

Anyone know anything about these guys? The prices seem amazing (well up in the "too good to be true" realms).

Friend of mine sent me the link, he's having grief with his 307 HDi is looking at getting a Fab vRS since I got mine. Either that or a Corolla T-Sport.

Although World of Cars quote a registered address, I can't find a firm of that name registered with Companies House - which would make me think twice about using them. Their site says:

World of Cars has huge stocks available at all times and if we don't list what you want we will source the car for you, saving you the time and energy and the cost of purchasing all those car papers.

After you have chosen the car, one of our business managers will advise you of the correct funding method.

(Please note: You must call us before visiting.)

Huge stocks? ...and the cost of purchasing all those car papers?? ...the correct funding method???

The only information I can find on this firm is what is published on their site. I would need far more than that before buying a car from them.

Also worth remembering the old saying: "If something seems too good to be true, it probably is..."

If they had a huge stock, wouldn't they like people to come and look at them all? Not have to email first??

All other issues aside - Vindis in Cambridge sorted my Furby vRS out as cheaply as that place did (cheaper in fact, if it wasn't for the price increase this year that I'm factoring in...)

You'd be surprised what you can haggle if you have prices like the above link to show to a dealer. I used the prices from Micronet Showroom to barter my deal.

Speaking of which, Micronet are 100 quid cheaper for the vRS than the link you posted above...

Not recommending you buy from one of the online places... they just give you good leverage when you visit the dealers to see how much of a deal they're willing to cut you...

That's basically how we did it too ;) - get online prices, say what you'd get for that and tell them to try & match it.

Dealers will get as close as they can (whilst maintaining some margin no doubt) and you will have a decent deal :D

Works with TVs too, went to Currys with Price Runner ad from tinternet for TV at

You wonder why they quote delivery times of 8-12 weeks for an Octy if they have huge stocks.

Maybe their storage facility really is *that* big... ;)

On a similar vein, has anyone tried the service at www.skodastore.com?

They dont quote prices on the site - you have to apply for a quote - but it seems an interesting concept..
