Fabia Mudflaps

Featured Replies

Hi, the subject just about covers it, here...

I got a set of mudflaps to fit the new Fabia, at a bargain price of £16 a set of 4, including postage!

Yes, that was correct, all 4 for £16, delivered.

This is less then a main dealer sells a pair of front or rear for and you have to collect or pay for postage!

The seller was on Ebay user name hsc_701103 and he listed them for £20 inc postage but had a make an offer feature. I suspected they may have knocked off a pound or two, so went in low at £16, thinking they would reject the offer, I would then up it a quid, reject, up to the £18 and they may have said ok! But no, they accepted my first low offer!!!

Then I thought they would be a pig to fit, would fit poorly and the mounting holes wouldn't align.

I had covered my back there by asking if they were a "Proper" fit, the seller assured me they should fit fine, even offering me a full refund, including my return postage if they were not up to the job.

I had them a few weeks before trying to fit them but have done so now as I had a bit of spare time after fitting my underseat storage boxes so I had a quick try. It must have took me less than 5 mins a flap as all you need to do is identify each flap, which is easy-peasy as they are all marked on the inside with stickers (F/L, F/R, R/L, R/R) If you can decipher that, you are halfway there!

Each flap requires you to remove just 2 screws from the applicable wheel arch, marry up the new flap and re-fit the screws. The standard screws have a torx head, which is fairly simple, even with a small slotted screwdriver as long as it can turn the screw. You can re-fit them too as they are still long enough to fit BUT the flaps come with an extra set of longer ones, just in case. These are cross head screws so may be easier to re-fit and tighten up, if you don't have the correct fitment for the standard screws.

I managed to fit the front ones, by turning the wheels away from the flap you are fitting, in order to allow adequate clearance to work. (Fit left, turn left, fit right, turn right) The rears are just a little more difficult as one of the screws is difficult to get a screwdriver on to. I got over this because I have a screwdriver set with interchangable tips. I just held the tip in a pair of pliers but an adjustable spanner will do. For all the ones with enough room, I put the tip into a ratchet from a socket set... Simples!

If you haven't got tools that allow the access, the slower method would be to jack the car up. this may allow a bit more room for a stubby screwdriver but if you are still struggling, remove the wheels, although this will take longer then fitting the flaps!

P.S., If you jack the car, remember to use axle stands as you really don't want a ton and a half of metal crushing your delicate little fingers! :'(

The mountings lined up properly and the fitment looks like a factory fitment, at well under a half of the price so win/win as far as I can see.

I am a very happy bunny! B)

any pics or a link to the seller?

Hi, sorry, I just added the sellers user name to the post but it is hsc_701103

Just look up Fabia mudflaps, as there is only around 15 listings so you cant really miss him. The picture has all 4, layed out with the instruction leaflet and spare screws. they are not dealer pictures of them fitted to a car. U.K. seller, not the Polish ones, which are costlier.

When fitted, they look almost identical to Skoda's own sets, although i have not seen Skoda ones loose, or felt the quality.

I have absolutely NO HESITATION in reccomending them as I was going to waste money buying genuine ones... now I have them AND my (Genuine) underseat boxes, for less than the price of a genuine set of 4 mudflaps!

i have just bought the same ones on the 19th waiting delivery ebay item number 180624960627 paid £20 free delivery. on my sport i got originals so i will compare and then leave info. i will bin them if not ok

Sounds good... Twilbe nice to see a direct comparison with genuine ones. I am guessing they should be a lower quality but having said that, I have original door sill protectors and they look absolute sh-ugar til you fit them. Then they could do with a few polish coats to look better. And I wouldn't like to stand on one!! The nudflap plastic looks as good on the car as all the proper suff, already fitted!

Pics would be great if you could please.....I'm about to get some myself and was considering the dealer ones but may save my vouchers if the ebay ones are good.

Cheers

Chris

I've fitted the genuine mudflaps and they fit using 3 of the existing screws. Very pleased with fit and quality.

Only problem I had was a small stone stuck in the head of one of the torx screws which needed to be teased out.

just put a £16 offer in on some! nice find

can i ask where you bought the underseat boxes from and how much were they?

Also bought a set.....

I got them from my main dealer in Forest Gate, east London. (Preston Skoda) They were around £8 a box, and another quid or so for the spare screws and metel selft tap nut-thingies which I never needed. I got them as the other guy said the threads stip easily but I was ok. I didn't even bother to change the seat fixing bolts.

Just read a message from the seller of these mudflaps, asking mmbers to put a note in their bids, to get an enhanced discount on any offer/counter offer. I am speculating that they will give members a better offer as they are sure to sell more here, now!

so £16 for a pair..that's cheap compared to the brochure...I think they're about £50 optional extra. are they easy to fit?

got mudflaps today fitted in 25 min took originals off my sport and replaced with new ones (cheap). Originals are a lot better. Front and rear on the original are fitted with 3 screws. On the new ones (cheap) are fitted with two so they don't go as far up the arch or into the wheel arch. They are not as flexible. tried putting pics on but no go wont do it for me!!!!!!

How do they compare asthetically, once on the vehicle, compared to the Skud ones though?

Would you still buy and fit them, saving a lump or get the genuine ones?
