Looks very impressive Steve, but might look even better on mine - will you be at the next NW meet, I'll bring some tools

I'll be there Bryan. And keeping a close eye out :D

Thanks guys. Glad you all like it.

I didn't want to mention anything publicly about the decat pipe, but yes - that was a huge inconvenience to what was already a fairly massive job. Matthew - I would check yours, certainly a test fitting if you can. With the time constraints I was working too, I wasn't able to do a massive amount of research, but talking to a few on her and the decat thread I put up, this one came up as pretty much the only candidate that could be had off the shelf. Maybe that was a sign! All the other specialists I spoke to told me they needed the car in for measurements, to be able to get it made up. This was a major issue as the car wasn't driveable. So this option meant I could at least get this on, mated upto the original system and hobble up to Pipewerx or another local specialist (JP Exhausts in Macclesfield). Unfortunately this clearly wasn't to be. Cue more hassle and organisation as I had to arrange recovery of the car upto Pipewerx. Cost, £70.

Sorry for the essay, but the best advice I can offer to others is to get it done at an exhaust specialist by taking the car to them. Especially for those with the luxury of a driveable car and deciding on your own terms that you want a decat!

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

Hopefully (weather permitting) I will be getting the bumpers fitted this saturday but I'm not sure I'll get chance to fit the decat, I'll try to get it lined up but after seeing your pictures and the prices @ Pipewerx I'm very tempted to head over to them for a whole system making up.

Just out of interest, did they have many different types of tailpipes available?

Well worth getting in contact. Tell them you're from Briskoda

Didn't really explore the other tailpipe options as I was certain about what I wanted. But if you look on their website gallery you'll see a famous Octy2 with twin-exit ovals (Dave/Shifty's old Octy I think?) and also an example of a single oval in the usual spot.

And good luck with your decat!

And this was the other twin 'Jet' style option available...

Pffft. I can't win! That was the only photo they had for me Pagey ;)

Looks good Steve. I didn't know about the hybrid either. Does it stink like a DPF-less PD170 without the cat?

  • Author

What can I say Nick, my hand was forced! It's in there for its stronger internals than anything else really....

I have noticed that actually. There is a slightly more prevalent smell of diesel at tickover, with the decat. Obviously the PD140 doesn't have the annoyance of a DPF to overcome, so it's just the cat to get out of the way :)

Again, as the old cat was soaked in oil as a result of the turbo failure, it seemed rather a stupid idea to buy another one instead of a decat pipe

Cheers,

Steve

  • Author

Oooh, no - forgot about those. Anything in particular? Sound at tickover and when revved? Could probably sort a 'drive-by' clip as well...

Any and all if you don't mind please.

Thanks
