Well, what a terrific job they've done. And very well priced I think, at £375 inc.

Some quick pics I took there, while it was still on the ramps. They leave it up there so you can check over everything and I must say, the accuracy and quality of the welds is something else. Very good quality and attention to detail.

So highly recommended all round emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Seeing as Milltek was my only other consideration, but they don't offer a suitable TDi system, and haven't been bothered to check their TFSi/TSi system for compatibility/suitability on the TDi (and I'm not the first to have asked!) - it was a no-brainer, for a custom system that was fairly local to me emoticon-0103-cool.gif

They were also happy to rectify an issue on the decat pipe I'd bought, that was apparently specifically fabricated for the PD140 BKD, but managed to have the wrong size pipe for connection at the turbo side. Pipewerx sorted that for me by chopping the end of the original (dead) cat, cutting the decat pipe down to suit and welding that on. Thanks guys emoticon-0148-yes.gif

EDIT: Re-sized the attached pics, as realised they're a little big in preview mode!

Looking awesome Steve!

What does it sound like? Any chance of a sound clip?

Cheers

Thanks Tim

Bit more of a burble, but not intrusive while travelling. Spot on for me really. Of more interest is the hybrid turbo when coming onto boost. Coupled with the decat it sounds quite interesting and 'un-diesel like' IMO. I'd forgot about the 'hybrid squirrel' effect, from my previous Fab vRS project :D

But the main reason for fitting is longevity and the quality of the system. I didn't really want to, and wasn't expecting, the requirement for a replacement exhaust at this stage. But there we go! So the sound and performance benefits of running it decatted, coupled with this system is a bonus really.

Yep, will try to get some clips - might have to be at the weekend though.

Cheers,

Steve

You mentioned that you had bought a decat pipe and it was wrong. I'm looking at one of these on Ebay at the moment and I would hate to buy it, if it is wrong, can you remember where you got yours ??

also does the turbo spool noticably quicker with the decat and is there warning light problems ??

Congrats Steve

that looks like a real work of art. And at that price!

Here in Germany you will pay more in the region of 800 euros upwards.

Cheers

Mike

looks good oem+ didnt know you had a hybrid in it B)

I'll drop you a PM. As it's a brand new turbo, it's being run in. So can't comment on the spool-up time. The current mapping also doesn't take into account the revised turbo or the decat. So I'll be best placed to comment on those when the map's been tweaked.

It certainly wasn't the plan. But the car clearly had other ideas ;) - hybrid installed actually more for strength and reliability reasons, than anything else. I'll have the map adjusted (by Ben) but the goal is to run a reasonable amount of power, but not to place undue strain on components

Cheers,

Steve

no doubt, ive herd so of many going on the 140s specially if mapped they cant cope, should easily run 200 on a safe map

looks great mate  im sure once you get the map tweaked it will be very nice indeed :)

seems like an age since we had out fabia and got rid of S3 wheels, not sure i will mod the octy since its the family wagon now, but its great to see your work in progress :)

Looking good that Steve. emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

@ k.young I've decatted mine and the turbo does spool up quicker. No warning light issues.

Steve,

Looking excelent  just out of interest, was it the same decat as I bought? I still haven't got round to fitting mine, I was supposed to fit it last week but with all the snow I couldn't get the car out of the road and upto my friends house :(

Matthew

looks good

Looks good Steve

Where did you get the Hybrid from? My turbo is starting to sound like a police car and is in the garage tomorrow. Luckily i still have a Warranty but i'd be interested in getting a Hybrid and putting that in.

Can you PM me the link for the Decat pipe too

Steve, looks cracking mate, I was looking at the pipewerx DP for mine, but the price went from £465 to £550 with the VAT increase, :S

I have to say though, 20k + posts and you still add HUGE pictures!

to all those wondering, I have no qualms with naming and shaming -

poor Wardy bought the Decat from me (New and unfitted) I had bought it from PP Tuning and been assured it was the correct fitment, It however was NOT, causing problems for all involved!

I had heard of others having problems with PP Tunings fitment before, but I never got round to finding out as I have traded my car for a new VRS

Edit: Car looks awesome by the way Wardy!

Thanks for that Simon.

There is a crowd on Ebay selling a de-cat downpipe for £129, specifically for the BKD, is this a good price ??

oh also forgot to ask mate did you get your suspension fitted?

Thanks for that Simon.

Thanks guys. Glad you all like it.

Yeah, sorry about those original pictures; it'd be quite nice if the software resized them automatically but never mind. A bad workman always blame his tools ;)

I didn't want to mention anything publicly about the decat pipe, but yes - that was a huge inconvenience to what was already a fairly massive job. Matthew - I would check yours, certainly a test fitting if you can. With the time constraints I was working too, I wasn't able to do a massive amount of research, but talking to a few on her and the decat thread I put up, this one came up as pretty much the only candidate that could be had off the shelf. Maybe that was a sign! All the other specialists I spoke to told me they needed the car in for measurements, to be able to get it made up. This was a major issue as the car wasn't driveable. So this option meant I could at least get this on, mated upto the original system and hobble up to Pipewerx or another local specialist (JP Exhausts in Macclesfield). Unfortunately this clearly wasn't to be. Cue more hassle and organisation as I had to arrange recovery of the car upto Pipewerx. Cost, £70.

Sorry for the essay, but the best advice I can offer to others is to get it done at an exhaust specialist by taking the car to them. Especially for those with the luxury of a driveable car and deciding on your own terms that you want a decat! Simon - perhaps you could add where yours came from?

Kenny - V1s on at the moment, Eibachs/FSD switch happening now the car is back. Was postponed once because of FSD availability and again because the car still wasn't back with me. Just waiting for Awesome to get back to me with some suitable dates.

Carl - will drop you the details in a PM.

Cheers,

Steve

Cheers Steve

Looks very impressive Steve, but might look even better on mine - will you be at the next NW meet, I'll bring some tools

As already been said " looks very nice ".

Glad it's sorted for you now.
