VRS Delayed again!

Featured Replies

Ordered my VRS 170 cr Hatchback manual on 29th September and was told it would be build 5 last week was told build week 13 now today week 19!!! and this is not confirmed.

I have many thoughts on this are they slow on delivery because of the Diesel engine or because I got it in the VAT free period are they supplying cars to people who paid the full price first.

Skoda UK are a waste of time they have a take it or leave it attitude they need to remember where they were before VW took over because if this continues customers will go elsewhere.

Did anyone else out there order theirs around the same time as mine and what delivery dates have you been given? Also anyone else with delivery delays.

I usually buy VW and this is my first Skoda and the last If I ever get it.

I'm guessing you meant to post this in the Octavia forum?

For what it's worth, I ordered my Superb 170 CR DSG on the 30th Sept and was given bw7 initially which then moved to bw5... got to bw5 and was then told it's been delayed to bw18 too... seems to be a pattern there... same engine and 'box, same bw5 and now similar bw18/19 :wonder:

Have you approached you dealer about a loan car? I have just collected a 2010 Octavia Elegance DSG which I can keep until mine arrives. Think it only applies if you've already "sold" your car, but would be worth having a chat.

Delays are right across the Skoda range; last year it was sunroofs this engines. Cannot really blame Skoda entirely as for many components they need, then there at the mercy of the VAG group supply system. Therefore when demand across the group is outstripping supply guess who's not going to be first in the pecking order.

Also gets frustrating when you see perceived inconsistencies, for example a friend of mine like myself has got a Yeti on order and we've both opted for the same engine and drive system but different trim levels. His order was placed his six weeks later than mine but currently has a provisional build 4 weeks before my order.

Can only think the initial build slot was lost due to an engine not being available in time for the build. Therefore after trying to shuffle it a couple of weeks without success, it got dumped down the back of the queue rather than upsetting other orders. Concern is now it’s been shuffled again by two weeks :S

This is a funny thing, I've been watching a megafactories series recently and GM can make more Camero engines a day than other firms can sell cars in a year, same with BMW, as it's VW unit's you'd think they would be the same, 18 hours to totally build a Camero btw.

I've had a similar experience. I ordered my CR170 Superb on the 8th October and was initially told i'd get it on 31st December! It's now sometime around 5th April... 7 months waiting.

It annoys me when i read posts on here from people that ordered their car after me but have already taken delivery!! Why such huge inconsistency in delivery times? Can someone at Skoda give a LOGICAL explanation for how a car can have a build week 4 one week, 12 the next, then 8 the week after?

What catastrophic production line failure has occurred in the space of 7 days to delay a car's build by several weeks? Conversely, what amazing process efficiencies have been developed in the space of 7 days to bring forward a car's build by several week?! It makes no sense.

Skoda seem to move build dates around on a whim. It leaves customers feeling confused and ultimately annoyed at the apparent unfairness of the system. To add to the problem, Skoda don't seem to care about communicating the reason for delays to their customers.

I'm never buying a Skoda again.

There's a post on the Yeti forum about build dates, an email from SUK customer services has been copied to the post and it explains some of the issues with build dates and allocation. Unsurprisingly, it appears to be a far from straightforward process dependent on many different factors. I presently have a provisional wk 14 build date, this having been brought forward from wk 15, the car was ordered 31/12/2010.

I placed an order with our car leasing department for a 1.6CR twindoor with a few extras on 4th November, the car was delivered to leasing company this week and is sitting with 11 plate registration  although due to my previous lease I cant get delivery until 22nd April- at least not without paying for two cars for the next two months which is silly as I can only drive one at a time, so makes for very expensive parking.:wall:

Moved to Octavia II.

It's to do with exchange rates. Currently the pound is very weak, so selling cars in sterling means they get less money back in Euros. If you can sell a car in Euroland for more money, why would you prioritise a less profitable UK one? It's not just Skoda doing this by the way, all manufacturers are doing their best to hedge the exchange rates by delaying cars. I know this doesn't help you but don't feel victimised. Skoda is a victim of its own success here, but fundamentally they are a business trying to make money.

I know someone who ordered vRS diesel DSG hatch before xmas and it's sitting at dealer now ready for Tuesday morning.

There seems no logic to the delivery dates.
