will be a good find IF they are any good

anyone fitted thiers yet ?

UPDATE I fitted mine today It was okat BUT had to drill the hole larger for the sensor to fit nit easy. You cannot use the rubber mounts as thet don't fit and also cannot use factory hoses on it.other than that it fits nice very big as for the car revs ALOT more responsive alot...Have not drove it yet and will know more as soon as I get it remmaped in a week or 2 just need my decat on then all done..

OH and you also need 2 10mm bolts about 3/4 of a inch long to hold sensor in the holes are threaded..

is your car being mapped on a rolling road? If so ask them what they think of the intercooler and get the intake temps logged. Would be nice to see the results.

Yes it will be I will get all the details...But mine is not your run of the mill car my engine is forged and got a garrett gt30 turbo spent over 10k on it so far..

where you getting it mapped? that should be a wee bit fast!

R-Tech I think Haven't made my mind up yet...

It sounds like you really need a FMIC with a bigger turbo, not a small SMIC. After spending that much you should get the best.

Good choice, I'm sure they boys up there will looks after you

No these are rated the same and did not want to alter the front of my car.I want it to be a sleeper and watch some chav get blown away....And all they will see is a SKODA badge at the back of me lol :D

Just keep an eye on those intake temps, Im not sure youll have success though.

I may if I have too put another intercooler in and run them piggy back like the seat leon does..

By all means try it, I'm a great believer in learning by your own work and experience, but honestly that SMIC will not be sufficient if you are running a GT30 at anything near it's potential.. take no notice what its "rated" at, they will have dreamt up a suitable number. We race a 1.8T TT with GT30 (makes something over 400bhp) and use a big front mount developed for Dialynx by Pace, and it isn't sufficient to maintain sensible inlet temperatures under sustained use. The sidemount is probably a fairly big chunk of aluminium and have a fair heatSINK capacity and will show acceptable resaults for short squirts of performance until it heatsoaks, but with sustained power demand it will soon heat up and take ages to recover..

Live and learn I will try it if not back to the drawing board,I can always use this one for my everyday car...I just don't want to alter the front of my car at all..

your not making sense for someone who has just spent 10k on engine build and making it into a track car and you go and fit a £100 none flow tested sidemount on >??????!?!!

it seems a bit strange you would skimp on something so important on a car thats meant to run big figures on track!!!!

i would have thought you would realise the need fo a large front mount that is capable of not only flowing x amount of air but also cooling x amount of air at x speed across the cooler.

very strange !!!!!!

why not fit a large pro alloy one awesome bit of kit that req no cutting of the bumper etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Right I have my tuner who has built 3 cars for me now and not one did I have a big front mount on and the other 2 he built where running over 500 bhp so he does know what he is on with,As for this cheap intercooler it is pearly a suck it and see thing for the numbers that is all if it don't work it comes off simple.I have a forge one sat in my house now but the front needs to be altered to fit it,that is what I DONOT want to do..And this is not just for track it is road legal as well...So this is just a experment that is all

why not just sell the forge and get a pro alloy one much better and req no cutting

who's the tuner ??? cant see any tuner saying a side mount that small and one that has never seen a flow bench will be adequate for a car thats going to be running 400+ and will be put on track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree with Westallc here, cannot see that being anywhere near enough for 400+bhp. Probably not THAT much more efficient than the standard smic.

If you don't want a fmic on show then paint it black?

Look to start who's car is it..????????????????????? also LIKE I SAID IT IS A EXPERMENT THAT IS ALL WE WANT TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO,I HAVE SAID IT NERMOUS TIMES THROUGH OUT THIS THREAD...I will do what I want to do with car I have been doing this game a long time now, I know what I want..Also who said anything about 400bhp I didn't I want 340ish it is the torque I am after that is whatmakes you quick...NOT BHP...enough said now when we do the tests onm these I will post again..

Thanks

REMEBER A EXPERMENT ONLY DOES NOT MEAN I AM RUNNING CAR ON IT... :giggle:

okay lol

be good to see what it does

you got any picks of the new engine or car going to be a monster

did you change the compression ratio and displacement on the new engine???

make sure you post up the logs with this cooler on please

good luck mate

Hi buddy look forward to your results.

Why do you state the front needs altering to FIT Forge one?? Is the FMIC not for a Skoda Oct VRS then. As per the pro alloy large FMIC no cutting is needed. Am i missing something there...

Is it because you do not have the Forge modded crash bar that comes in the kit as yes that is modded to alloy fitting of the FMIC to it and is also vented holes to allow more air to come into FMIC.

Edited by Bowders1

you said you had a 500+ subaru that would have had to run a monster front mount or was you still running the standard tmic?????

Mountie,

Who is your tuner? Any reason why you've gone for a GT30? A Garret T34 with .55 exhaust housing would've made 340bhp all day long..
