wonder if the vrs sensor is a different size then ? hmmmm .... still gotta be worth the money lol .

Richm and Westlac are spot on with this

IMO you need to find a better engine tuner, this ones a fecking idiot if he thinks that that uprated SMIC can support your engines AF requirements to run 400+ bhp lol.

A good engine tuner with an average education should be able to calculate what size intercooler core your engine requires to reach your target hp, its not rocket science.

Without knowing the specific details of your engine spec and final target horsepower, I've done a quick calculation for you to give a "ball park" figure of what size internal intercooler core flow area is required to achieve 400 bhp.

The absolute minimum internal core flow area required for 400 bhp comes out @ 28 square inches...BUT you then need to allow a margin for the density of the core type you are using, which could add up to 40% extra, giving you a total of 40 square inches of internal intercooler core flow area.

Bill.

You really have no clue wot so ever,I have been in this a long time and this guy builds these cars for the last 20 years, Now not one time did I say I was gunna use it I was expermenting with it.I have proof in the pudding My last one with a large top mount 3 inch thick, was putting out more than 400 and ran it it at 10 of the best 2 years straight without a problem..

i would be very careful in who you say hasnt a clue buddy !!!

you might be forgetting there are a few very clever people on here who know about this stuff not just you talking about what someone else has done to your car!!!! you can come on here saying your engine builder this and that but thats him and not you dont make out other people havent clue when there knowledge is probably far greater than yours !!!

as vrs180 will make you look stupid soon as he is one of the clever ones lol

p.s was that the scooby running that tmic?? if so wasnt it 500+ bhp like you said before??? out of interest what scooby forums are you/ was you on would like to see this car you had/have

Yes I did say it was 500,All I said (was over 400) to be exact it was 505bhp 562flbs torque....

nice power and that was with a tmic???

no one has under estimated you !!! you are the one that has said the above member hasnt a clue!!!

have you got pics of this said tmic on the car ??? also what forum was you on ??scoobynet? prob know the car as a mate has run his in 10 of the best for a few years now

Do i sense bad vibe's ? Back on subject my mate mapped his golf agu the other day with his smic on it from the bay and it holds boost right to the redline and seems to respond really well from low down and the sensors the same size as mine , ebay win

dub dean i would expect any smic or fmic to hold boost or it would be leaking lol

what your mate needs to do is some temp logs before and after a really good hard run and that will show if its worth it or not

Yep, no one knows if these are a win until someone does some back to back temp logs, if someone would do this then maybe a few other people would buy them?

We are not interested in the scooby data Clive go post it on scooby forum... :giggle:

Just coz you have one.....

cool

looks like a viable option for those of us that have no intention of running more than 300bhp and dont want to spend a fortune on a forge or similar .. as mentioned logs give the exact info ... but the feel/drive is good enough for me :giggle::rofl:

there is 1 graph on here already that was posted...

The graph posted has no reference to the applicatioon or conditions, so has little relevance. It is important to have an indication of how much work the cooler is doing (ie what horsepower/airflow it is supporting, and boost pressure for example) and the temperature reduction achieved between inlet and outlet. Also the important thing to know is the SUSTAINED cooling ability, which is a proper measure of the capacity of the intercooler , rather than a short-term single run starting from a relatively cool starting point. Temperature logs need to be measured over a number of back to back runs or over a sustained period of high output running, to get heat soaked into the system. A cooler with a large thermal mass may appear to give good cooling performance on a short test period until it heats up, but won't neccesarily be able to sustain a satisfactory cooling performance once the heat has soaked in, and temperature recovery to reduce the core to ambient once unloaded may well be slow. This is generally where the difference between a good and bad core will show up.

I am genuinely interested in your log results for the large SMIC, but please let's have some figures rather than "it feels good" etc.

those log results on the graph are for the forge smic though which is different .... but im sure i have seen the godspeed ones on the same site :wonder:

but then again which should i believe .. either .. 1) a graph from a site we cant validate or 2) words from two of our own briskoda members who have fitted it ?? ... hmmm ... think ill take option 2 pls lol :giggle:

end of the day main question is .... is it better than standard !

My answer yes it is lol who could log it?

Well i decided to order one after reading some good things on other forums and it was cheap enough! Fitted it today with minimal mods, the unit is very well built/finished.

I was shocked at the amount of oil that came out of the old unit ( catch can search underway! :giggle:)

Must admit the car feels much better but thats just my opinion. Not able to log any results until i see my mate with his laptop! :D

I will have logs on this shortly

i bought one too and it came today ... suprised at the size of the thing :o ... just have to try and figure out when i can fit it :giggle:
