When you accelerate hard....

My Dad has a PDK equipped Boxster S, that has Launch Control but I've not been able to convince him to try it out haha

Both get in and try it out once. But if he's planning on owning the car long-term it'll probably be the last time he'll want to use it :p

Make sure it's a nice long straight road too, as it'll likely surprise you just how quickly the PDK can transport you down the tarmac B)

Hi Mike,

Think you've taken my post a little too seriously but never mind.

I was trying to make the point that its a shame the DSG setup in the vRS variants (all sporty VAG products for that matter) arent tweaked from their standard offerings to provide a more sporting drive. Sure its a great box and the shifts are lightening but i'd prefer to be in full control of my gearshift selection in S mode; perhaps with the exception of coming down the gears when at a near standstill, its pretty good at that.

There are remaps available now but I just think its a shame VAG dont do something about it themselves. Also think the launch control feature would be useful in S mode, particularly for those that partake in trackdays etc

this doesnt make sense, you say you would prefer to have more control when in sport, well you can, you have paddles.

Also why would you need launch control on a trackday. Rolling start through the pits which is speed limited anyway, then bury it once you exit. No need for standing starts unless your on the 1/4 mile.

Will it stay up near the limiter until you decide otherwise, or will it change up for you at that point - even when in Sport and with paddles?

Fair shout on the trackday comment. I still think the DSG gearbox is too automated even in Sport. I am aware it has paddle shifts; I have driven one. It still kicks down and changes gear towards the limiter. Personally i'd rather it only did this in drive. Still think Launch Control would be a fun feature on a car with this much power and its a bit of an ommission. Suspect its somewhat to do with the torque limit on the DSG7 box used in the smaller cars, expect Launch Control would cook it after a few heavy attempts.

Haha it's his pride and joy so doubt he'll be game. He has put it in sport plus with my Mum in the car before. His one is very highly spec'd and has Sport Chrono Plus and PASM, when you press Sport Plus gear changes, steering and throttle response become scary and the suspension goes rock solid. Mum told him never to do it again whilst shes with him haha
