Best sealant for the rear doors?

Featured Replies

To cut a long story short, had some insurance work done to my car involving the rear door, basically they've taken the door apart to fix (like they should), but put back together without resealing the door. Not good I know, feel like ringing them up to sort it, but it will probably be easier for me to fix it myself as i know what to do anyway. Heavy rain tonight, leaking quite alot into the car, was never like this before.

What sealant is the best of the best of the best of the best to use on this? Already have some Unibond Roof & gutter sealant (3/4 full & 2months old) available, but have used this already on the car and has taken just under a week to fully set, car still being used daily and lots of freq rain here in lovely Norfolk!

Cheers chaps, recommend away!

I used to recommend homebase roof and gutter but it failed, but ct1 is the best you'll get, sets quick and will last forever, get it at edmundson electrical (only place I've seen it) or maybe screwfix too... Comes in clear, White or black, trust me, it works!!

I used unibond bathroom sealant. Seems to be doing the trick.

Hi,

My local Skoda Parts guy gave me a kit Elastic Bonding And Sealing Material + MS Cleaner Part No HHC 506 750 he did not charge me but I have spent a fair bits lately and I get on well with him. This is the stuff the dealers use and is enough to do two cars. You will need to get a sealant gun, hope that helps.

Yep, full name ct-1 :)

Jetseal worked well for me.

I used Plumbers Gold from Toolstation - the advantage is that it can be applies to wet surfaces...

I used gutter seal and drilled and screwed the bottom edge with self tapping screws because if you just use sealer when you push the window carrier it drips water.
