Best place for car batteries?

Featured Replies

I look after 2 cars for a friend who is out of the country for around 8 months of the year. I went to start them both last week and both batteries were flat...I jumped them and went for a 30 mile trip on them. I am going to go back today and try them again, but i suspect that the batteries have had it.

The cars are:

Jaguar XJ8 3.6V8 from 2003

Golf GT TDI 130 from 2002

Both on the original batteries so they have had a good innings!

I have looked on halfords and they do a bosch battery for £130 for the jag and £120 for the Golf with a 5yr warranty....just wondering if there is anywhere cheaper?

I have seen a few good places on the net for batteries.

One of them was called Tanya batteries or something like that.

Edit: this place Tayna.co.uk

Just paid £99 for a Bosch 85Ah one from Euro car parts. Noticed on the tayna the Varta equiv is £95 plus shipping so i am quite happy with that!

The Jag started fine, so only needed one for the Golf. Barely need to turn the key now to start it! The one i took out was a 70Ah one.

Try Costco, got my Bosch ones for less than £60 last year.

I'm not a member and its a 70mile round trip for me by a traffic hell hole called Birmingham! Wish there was one nearer to me now that my local Makro has closed!

If you know anyone with a trade card, otherwise the I believe the Bosch are just Varta (Silver IIRC).

you can get varta from TPS and most motor factors.

FWIW have you tried getting to the cell caps, checking the water level and trickle charging the devices?
