hi i have an 03 plate skoda octavia estate,2 litre tdi 6 speed gear box,all gears engage but 1st ans 2nd gear there is no drive,rest of gears are all fine including reverse.There is no crunching or difficulty getting into gear,have adjusted cables and no difficulty selecting all gears just no drive in 1st and 2nd.Any ideas what problem could be?any advice greatly appreciated. cheers.

I am a little confused as I did not realise there was a 2litre 6 speed TDI. I thought there was only the L&K 1.9 130 6 speed?

If is a 2litre 140bhp then it must be a mk2..... However the mk2 was not around in 2003 (appeared in 05), so maybe it has the wrong plates on it?

What are the front wings like? Normal-ish shape, or do they wrap around on-top where the bonnet would be. Also note the obviously different shapes of radiator grill. The mk2 is more rounded in its looks.

it is definately the mark one shape,has an engine code ASZ,and a sixspeed gearbox.It was 1st registered december 2003.

ASZ = 130, not 140bhp.

As per earlier, I guess something is broken in the box, but I am not familiar with the 6speed.

update on my clutch/gearbox problem on octavia 2 litre estate,mechanic in garage has advised me to get a gearbox (code FMH),any advice on best place to get one and what would realistic price be.cheers

Start off by asking Skoda maybe, and then having a look on Ebay. Trouble with buying second hand is that you never know the real condition of it, or you could try a breakers - www.skospares.com is based in Poole/Bournemouth.
