Front Windows opening oddity

Featured Replies

I've just taken delivery of my new Vrs Estate, which goes like a dream, but I've had an odd thing happen twice now: We parked up to go to a panto, locked it as usual, and when we came back found both the front windows partially open. I thought, well maybe I inadvertently touched the windows buttons when I got out of the car and didn't notice. But then it happened again yesterday, again when left in a public parking area for a couple of hours, so I am a bit puzzled. Will get on to my Skoda dealer tomorrow but wondered if anyone else had had anything like that happen to them?

Cheers,

Peter

That happened to me twice aswell. I locked it and the windows dropped about an inch.

ah yes, when you hold the key in the lock position the windows will close if they are open, also if you hold the key in the unlock position they will fully open.. maybe that's what you've done by mistake

I did the same thing you have to make sure you just press the fob once quickly!!!! :D:D

I havnt done this yet with the MK2 but I used to do it loads with the MK1, and I do it with SWMBO's Audi.

Large bunch of keys in a tight jeans pocket, the unlock button gets a long press. Hence the car unlocks, the windows roll down. After a time the car relocks itself.

I only discovered how this happened when I bent down to pick something up off my garage floor and the car unlocked and rolled its windows down!

I've had a couple of situations where I have driven away after a "single unlock" on the fob,,which only opens the drivers door and when I have reached my destination I have got out and clicked unlock a to get the boot open..only to find the boot does not open and the front windows open a couple of inches on their own :wonder:

Numerous unlock clicks don't make any difference.. I have to get back in the car..start it up..turn off again and then the boot will open !! I guess things must reset themselves..it's a bit annoying anyway !

Easiest way I've found around this one is to just press the lock button once to lock the car, then do the double unlock to open all doors or the one press of the tailgate button to just unlock the boot, if you do the latter make sure you don't leave the keys in the boot when closing the door, it automatically locks on closing.

iirc it's something you can enable/disable using vcds too, likewise you can set it up so one click of the fob only opens the drivers door, and two clicks opens all the doors and boot

Can you convenience open/close the windows on a Fabia 2 using the remote control? I thought this would only be possible using the key? My golf works with the remote but my wifes Polo needs the key (even though it has remote locking).

Works on my VRS using only the remote.

I can on my Greenline 2. B)

Happy days that, glad i've ordered elec rear wins on our vRS now!

I assume this is something the dealer can change. like the auto locking feature when you start driving?

I need to hold the open/unlock button for about 3 seconds, then the windows will start opening, if I stop pressing the button the windows will remain open but not open all the way.

Then holding the close/lock button on the key for 3 seconds will close them.

again, if you hold the boot open button for about 3 seconds it will open the boot.

I assumed this 3 second delay was to stop it happening by accident, but I will keep an eye out for this now you guys have mentioned it!

Thanks, Guys, that has all been very helpful.

I haven't been able to reproduce exactly what happened, but I know what to look for now. I'll report back when I have a definitive answer.

Cheers,

Peter

Thanks for this thread. I noticed on Saturday that all my windows went down a inch or so.

Must have some how held the button for 3 seconds or it got pressed in my pocket !

Cheers Guys.

This window opening feature is a waste of time and a pain in the proverbial.  Can the dealer really disable it?  If so I'm there tomorrow.

I find it quite useful!... In the Summer I stick the remote under my chin and pop the windows open from across the carpark at work so most of the intense heat built up inside the cabin, throughout the day, has dissipated by the time I get in the car (takes me about 2 minutes to walk across the carpark!)...

NB: the car is in my sights all the time so no scallies can get in and nick it!!  :giggle:
