Coilpack wiring heat shield

Featured Replies

Hi folks.

I may well start making my own versions of these using heat resistant matting and press studs to protect the coilpack wiring which runs across the top of the engine. They would be around £10 which is a lot less than the £25 for the OE product.

Would anyone be interested?

Andy.

  • I use this coil pack cable tidy. Looks nice and OEM. Part number is 06F 971 824 C and it's a MK5 golf coil pack loom cover. Will need a bit of trimming to fit a mk1 octy VRS but you will see how to

  • Indeed it was Lloyds Porsche cap group buy.

Ill see how they come out and cost and go from there. Saves us all a few quid. I have the bits coming this week so will make a prototype and get sizing right and go from there.

The audi one looks like this fitted or this link http://www.ecstuning.com/ES7432/

No :)

I anyone could measure the Audi one (length by width) thatd be most useful as I could get started rather than waiting for the weekend to come.

I will and post it up

No :)

Length is 15" or 381mm

width is 3" or 76mm

could measure the popper gaps if you are fitting them between the coil plug wiring, unless you are going to use a different fitting?

31/4" or 83mm on second popper from first one

4" or 100mm on third popper from second.

31/4" or 83mm on fourth popper from third one

41/2* or 114mm on fifth popper from fourth one

Didn't do a very good job though - Left pawprints on the manifold. Grrr!

Is the one you fitted the same as the one on the link? They look slightly different.

Im guessing the initial wiring on the RHS of the engine feeds through the hole in the matting, right?

Thanks again Bowders.

Yeah, it's the same. Might look different because I trimmed the top left corner to go round the bracket which holds the engine cover and trimmed a bit out where the earth bolt for the coils is.

And yes, the wiring goes through the hole.

Great. Ill get cracking with the Blue Peter skills and see what I can come up with!

try and get a stencil made up ... if anyone can just put the audi one onto card and draw around it for u ... then everything would be correct

Ill knock one up this weekend and then offer them if anyones interested for £10.

When I asked a few months ago it was £25.71

id have one m8 if it was the same dimensions as the audi one :wonder:
