  • I use this coil pack cable tidy. Looks nice and OEM. Part number is 06F 971 824 C and it's a MK5 golf coil pack loom cover. Will need a bit of trimming to fit a mk1 octy VRS but you will see how to

  • Indeed it was Lloyds Porsche cap group buy.

Made one up using 3" width and seems shallow. Did you remove the small cable 'tray' when fitting (the thin plastic one with 2 prongs). Ive increased the size after this one to 3.5" width to give a little more coverage.

This is with 3"

To be honest when i measured the 3" it was 1.5" across the top of the flat width, so I just doubled it. I did not take into account the curve and thickness around the back going over the plastic cable retainer which yes is still maintained. So 3.5" is more correct.

Did you have to remove the small cable tray?

Did you have to remove the small cable tray?

Hi there.

No i left it in place.

Here are some better pics.

First i pulled up the coilpack wiring and plastic channel right off the cam cover

Then placed the heatshield over the loom and plastic channel

VRSCoolantoverflowbottlechange021.jpg

You will notice the heatshield has a cut out at gearbox end to allow the cable retainer to pulg back into the cam cover.

Also i made small holes along the heatshield to allow the small plastic channel lugs to sit into their original cam cover holes

And some better pics of shield

Cheers Bowders.

I made another with 3.5" width and a cutout where you mentioned (mamaged to find a reference pic) and it all fits really well.

To offer a few for sale do I need Freedom membership?

I may well start making my own versions of these using heat resistant matting and press studs to protect the coilpack wiring which runs across the top of the engine. They would be around £10 which is a lot less than the £25 for the OE product.

Hi Andy,

I'd be interested. They're for the 1.8T, right? Mine's the ARX (4x4) but I'm pretty sure the top's the same as the AUQ. Please send me a PM when they become available.

Thanks,

-Will.

yes u will need freedom m8 .... but ull soon get it back in discounts  ill take one m8

Ill get cracking and let you guys know when they're done.

how does it fit under the N249?

  • Author

N249? Thats under the intake manifold tray isnt it.

its the black thing on the right that you had un bolted.

  • Author

Oh, the vac box. Has no interference with that at all. You have to dismantle it to fit the shield though. 10mm bolt and 3 allen.

I think that's a vacuum chamber. It has only one vacuum line and no electrical connections.
