Sat Nav & Audio gone from Maxidtot

Featured Replies

My headunit, MFD2, no longer switches on when you start the engine. It doesnt seem to communicate with the Maxidot display either, 'Audio' & 'Navigation' are no longer in the list.

I have a ebay copy VCDS and lead, however after reading somewhere that you could break the system using this hooky software I am dubious as to whether or not to connect it. I also wouldnt know what I would be looking to change!

Im in Newcastle if anyone can advise me anything Id appreciate it. There is a garage up the raod from me who have the diagnostic kit I would rather go there armed with some information, like 'apparently its just a box that needs ticking/code entered' something like that. Thanks

Have you tried removing the headunit and disconnecting and then reconnecting the wiring.

May also be worth checking the radio fuses.

Will do, are the radio fuses located in the main fuse box, excuse the ignorance!, thanks

or you could try and do a reset on your climate control.

Ignition on, engine off. Press ECON and air with an arrow straight at the same time, it's the left bottom button with man and arrow straight.

everything in the climate display will light up and a test will be performed (approx. 30 sec) when the display is normal again turn ignition off and the new values will be set.

i did that test when i had lost some menues in maxidot and they came back again. i did the test to get rid of the klick sounds from the climate but i also got audio back in maxidot, wich for some reason i dont know got lost :-O

cheers, i tried that, the test ran, but it is no different. i havent tried removing the connector at the back of the headunit yet, do i need to disconnect the battery first?

is there any danger in resetting the unit and needing a radio code to put back in if i do disconnect the battery?

Just remove the - to the battery and wait 5 mins. Then reconnect it. That should clear down anything, also go into the maxidot and select factory reset.

ill give diconnecting the negative a go, cheers. my maxidot doesnt have a factory reset option that i can see, its a pre-FL if that makes a difference

Try looking in Setup - Lights and Vision or whatever the menu is called.

That is the only place on my Maxidot with a reset to factory settings option, although all it seems to reset is the CH/LH and the Convenience Indicators.
