Rear speakers

Featured Replies

Just about to fit mine (bay special) any advice on what to do and where to feed wires etc... I have a classic so no rear speakers. My mates comfort has speakers in rear, this correct?

Classic would have no rear speakers or wiring.

When you remove the stereo to get to the plug there's a little tab to remove before you can connect the wires, with a jewellers flat bladed screw driver. Make 100% sure you are putting them in the correct holes as it is difficult to remove once inserted. I think the instructions are based on LHD model so think of where the wires will eventually end up rather than what the instructions say. Do not forget to reinsert the tab. If you have an aftermarket stereo, re-inserting the stereo will be the most difficult part of the job. For the rest, you can remove the glovebox, cable tie the new wires to existing wires and bring down passenger side (like shown in instructions but reversed for RHD), for lazy method stuff wires under the trim. You will need to remove the rear seats in order to pass the wire from passenger to driver's side (under carpet). Quite easy to do, bring base of seats forwards, push bars in together and remove. For back, pull lever to fold down, use screwdriver to push back retaining lever at bottom, pull up and outwards.

I have the guide that came with speakers and says pins 1 and 2 and pins 7 and 8. Im a little lost tho as they arnt numbered and there are 4 black pins to put wires in. Anyone got any pics that can show me where they need to go? My rear speakers have mids and tweeters all in one unit. (The bay special ones)

They are numbered but you need to look really closely. There should be two separate plugs, if neither has four pins available then I suspect the wiring must already be in there. Check for wiring where the speakers will be screwed into (behind carpet either side in boot).

If they are not numbered it is possible a previous owner had the stereo ripped out by a thief and an aftermarket plug was wired in?
