Net system

Featured Replies

Just had my first play with the new SM and am confused by the three nets that came with it. Unlike in my Octy Scout, which had lashing rings around the boot floor and some plastic lugs on the sides of the boot, I can only find four lashing rings at the corners of the SM's boot. That makes fixing the (large) rectangular net easy, but where then do the long, thin rectangular pocket and the tiny pocket nets go? I feel very stupid asking this, but am stumped!

The long thin one goes across the back in the middle of the boot, miles from the back.

hooks onto the bottom hooks at the back and at the top fit to the 2 small cut outs in the horizontal bars with the shopping hooks on.

I wasn't given a 3rd net, so no idea about that one.

Mike

But I prefer discovery learning! Or failing that, relying on others.

Small ones go on the sides, between the cross net and the opening.

Thank you for your (mostly) kind replies. I have now found the relevant section in the manual, although the pictures don't look terribly helpful - I prefer words, so special thanks to those who have spelled it out for me. When I resume playing with my new SM tomorrow, I shall set about net-hanging (along with copying music to the hard disc, entering satnav addresses, investigating maxi-dot settings, etc., etc.).

A SM's owner's work is never done! But I have already fitted the black sill guards (look good) and the chrome surround to the cup holders, which I was inspired to buy after seeing Johann's post - it's amazing how that little piece of chrome sets off and completes the appearance of the area around the gearstick/armrest. Oh, and the Blackburn Rovers stickers are safely in place too!

Presumably in the bin!! :giggle:

I'll get my coat

Too many years of noble suffering to rise to that one ...

Our first house was just up the road from Ewood Park (worked in Darwen at the time) so caught the Rovers bug. Still get to about half a dozen matches a year with my younger daughter (who lives in Rotherham and married to a mad Millers supporter).

I was at a lost too Andrew. I hooked them over the "curry hooks" until I saw in Mike's Elsie the little cut outs in the horizontal rails and how to use them. (Thanks Mike! ) You can have the long net in the front or the back. Nearest the boot lid it prevents the boot floor (or your variable floor I suspect) from lifting up - so does not work there in my view. So mine is now behind the seats. It is easy to clip it off from the top two cut outs when you drop the seats down to fit something big in. The little one I have on the left - but this can also go on either side. My third net is the parcel shelf one which can obviously only go in one spot: around the parcel shelf!

Glad you liked the cupholder surround. It does set off that area very nicely.

After over 3 months with Monster I still find things to set and change! So enjoy!!!

Thanks for additional helpful advice. It seems that the net packages supplied are somehat variable - sometimes two, sometimes three - and I'm sure that none of mine is intended to go around the parcel shelf! But I am about to go and play again - as you say, endless hours of experimentation ahead!

There's a big one for restraining SWMBO. One of the smaller ones acts as a gag!

You need to be inventive with them

The parcel shelf net is an optional extra. It does not come standard. So not sure what your third net looks like?

My second and third nets are both 'pockets' - I have now fitted the long one across the back of the boot and the shorter one to one side.

Mission accomplished!

Where did you get the chrome cup holder surrounds? I had a quick look on the Skoda shop but couldn't see them...

Just found this picture of TP in the spare wheel assembly thread in the technical section:

Shows the two nets nicely. AND shows why I hooked mine to the curry hooks!!!!!!!!! TP had made the same school boy error when he had fitted his by not using the cut outs!

Erm I think not. If you hook your nets to the curry hooks it renders them useless surely since you can't move them! See here are the cut outs:

Hi Johann,
