I am very impressed that you have all been using your nets. This is the third car that I have had with nets and I have yet to take one out of the bag. Are they genuinely useful or is it an item you use once when the car is new and then never bother again with?

They are very usefull. They stop smaller things from rolling around. The big one in the back also creates an area between it and the back of the seats. So you can also put bigger stuff in there and stop these from rolling around as well.

I agree. I'd never had nets until I had a leased Mondeo estate a few years back and realised how useful it is just to be able to put loose items under a net and know they won't be rolling around doing damage to themselves or the trim and making an annoying noise.

One item I would never be without!

Stops everything from the tool box to the evenings take-away sliding around the boot.

Are the nets a different size for cars without the spare wheel/variable boot floor?

Mike

Same size, just on the spare wheel fitted cars the bottom mountings are below the surface level.

Hi Mike,

yes different size depending on the spare being fitted. The nets in this case are shallower and have long straps to reach the sub floor lashing eyes (what I suspect you should have).

Funny, all the one's I've seen have been the same.

Oh well, you live and learn.

I think it is probably because most people actually take the sensible spare wheel option... a bare boot without a spare is ONLY ever found on a SUK press car...

I'm insensible (unsensible?) then - and my SM is not a press car!

Oops! :giggle: After rockhopper's two uses of his spare wheel, I do hope you stay inflated Andrew. I hope the roads up north are better than ours down south.

I'm now mature enough (ie old) not to take offence! roads up here aren't great, but I decided to risk it. We'll see how sensible that was!

I think that is one of the best things about growing older... (like) water off a duck's back is soooooo much easier! And the ability to laugh at one self! Long may it last.

The Yeti is the first car I have used the nets in as well, although they have come with other cars in the past. I particularly like the narrow one for the side, this holds all my gloves hats etc off the boot floor. I sometimes use the long one across the opening of the boot as it stops loose things falling out when the back door is opened. The large flat one I have doubled up and put around a large storage box on the other side of the car. This keeps my muddy boots and wellies contained with all their mud and is also useful to store the 5lt of screenwash I have resorted to carrying as it uses it so fast.

I think that as the boot is relatively small you need these to keep it tidy and to keep muddy things away from clean. This keeps the boot space maximised and I don't need to take all the work stuff out to go shopping

Johann,

You'd better go and sit in the corner, because I don't have a spare and mine wasn't a Press car either!!

I didnt order the spare wheel with my yeti, though ive been thinking of using part of my good will gesture (if and when its offered) to have the dealer supply one

Well, I have the spare wheel option and at the moment just have the spare wheel in the boot, strapped to the horizontal rail which the curry hook attach to. I have the space of the non spare wheel, with a spare wheel. I can't use the parcel shelf as the wheel is too tall. I replaced the false floor with the standard boot floor and spacer.

Mine look like this

No idea if it's right or not but can't think of how else it would fit

But don't you have a spare wheel? or is that a loose spare wheel?

Mike
